Quick questions about ONR

Do you just poor two caps in the 2 gallon of water then start using it or do you guys sud it up like regular shampoo?



Also, can you take long strokes or shorter strokes would be better on black paint? I'm trying not to marr up the paint. Thanks
 
each capful is half an ounce so 4 caps to 2 gallons of water per instructions. Personally I don't do much at a time using ONR for the same worries
 
i stir it up vigorously with my measuring shot glass but it doesn't really sud up much. It'll look more like blue water.



Also, keep in mind that if you have a gallon size container of ONR, you can't use the cap as a measuring device as it's not accurate. If you look carefully on the instructions, you will notice that Optimum stuck a sticker for the 32 oz bottle onto the gallon container.
 
lol cutting costs, yeah blue water definitely but surprisingly I mixed mine in a 32 oz. bottle for QD and it lost much of it's blue hue after a while
 
yeah, i only got the 32oz bottle. i saw a pic in a previous click and brag thread and i saw someone who sud their mix up. So i guess not sudding it up is ok.

That was someone who did a 50/50 with conventional soap. Not sure why they did it, but thats where the suds came from.

If you like the lubricity of two capfulls, go with it. i use 2.5 capfulls (gal cap) per 2 Gals of water.
 
Yup, shouldnt suds but it turns the water a pretty blue. :2thumbs:



I use a 1/4 cup per 4 gallons.

Those quickly went away once I put the mitt in.
 
I'm gonna do my first ONR wash ever tomorrow morning and will use 1oz per gallon. I'll start my first wash with 2 gallons with grit guard.



We'll see how great this stuff is!
 
thanks for the good info people. Cleared up some confusion for me. This stuff works good though. My paint felt very slick after using it. Not like my normal hose and shampoo.

Possibly. I did drop by Lowes on Monday and bought a pesticide sprayer for my wheel wells. I might use it to pre soak the finish.



Would you recommend pre-soaking the finish, or just start scrubing away?

I always like to do a quick pre-soak to remove the tough grime on the lower panels, just as an extra precaution.
 
Really, IMO, ONR has little cleaning ability itself, but its big on lubrication. Im all about presoaking the panels, and trying to spray off anything loose. I would *never* just apply media soaked with ONR to a dry panel. But thats just IMO.



FWIW, I went through numerous gallons of ONR on my car alone, and have no visible wash induced marring. Prespray everytime. However, I do have marring from ice and snow battled with an ice scraper, hey, its michigan.
 
also, can someone help me with a good mitt using this on a black car? I used a LC ultimitt last night..not sure if it was a bad idea. Some said it was, i will find out in the sun tomorrow. If so, i will have to do a quick light swirl remover on the paint.
