question for Nascar fans + a rant!

i have all my cd's in my car. There all burned copies tho. I have rock, rap, pop,r&b. I mainly listen to insance clown posse or twztid

It varies according to the situation. If I am cruising around or on a good date, I might listen to jazz, classical, or R&B.

Commuting/Bad Date: Alternative, Rap, House, Gospel (at times)

Highway: House, Alternative

I can really listen to anything, except country that has people just talking pretty much or carrying on about stupid stuff; "When we were little kids, me and my cousin Bo would head down to Uncle Mertle's creek after our chores were down and tell tales in the cherry tree", etc. :) Cant stand that. Actually it doesnt make any difference whether I'm listening to something or not, and I dont mind talking to people, as long as they arent yelling or carrying on being stupid. I like to hear the engine whenever I take off so I know how hard or slow I'm taking off, plus I like hearing the engine :D

I like listening either something I can bop my head to (pop, rap, dance, techno, hip-hop, house, etc) or maybe something relaxing like jazz or slow rock.

Maybe some Limp Bizkit or Disturbed if the mood strikes, or Morissey if that doesn't depress me too much I could always put in 80's retro...........the cheesier the better! :p

I do not have command of the stereo in the car while someone's driving, but I take it over when I detail it.

I carry around one compact disc with 79 minutes and 35 seconds of music from that of a Drill Instructor (Marine D.I. to be exact.)

It keeps me on track and speeds up my detailing, well at least to me.

what is your collection that you can't leave when on a drive trip. [/b]</blockquote>
I have a tape case that holds 120 tapes (replaces one that got stolen when I had my Caprice). I have a mixture of things but mostly rap and dubs of my house CDs.

Has six CD's. One is a best of (Metalica, Aerosmith, Garbage, Floyd, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and some others) More Metalica Garage Days, then an awesome Black Crowes/Jimmy Paige CD (best of two that I put on one). I could go on, but I'm boring everyone by now.

I love music! Best concert I ever saw is a tie between the Rolling Stones 1989 in KC and Led Zep. Well, it was Led Zep 1995 (Paige and Plant in KC, MO.)

An music is better than no music.

I love the On Star Radio stations though. Expensive but while it is free the first month I will abuse it! No commercials!

For me, conversations cease after 75 mph. :D

You guys all need to have the pleasure (or displeasure?) of driving a car with a rackety 4 cylinder engine, stiff suspension, loud exhaust, and absolutely no sound deadening except for the sheetmetal.

Music to my ears! :D

I've been a fan of nascar for so long I remember when they used to race actual stock cars. I've tried to stay loyal as rules have changed and the sport has become mainstream. After watching sunday's race in Talledega I think I may have been dealt the final blow.

Now I have never been a fan of restrictor plate racing (who is?), but I cannot believe the crap they pawned off as a race. I feel pity toward anyone that paid good money in this economy to watch that 4 hour "parade" that had a few crashed floats. I'm so aggravated I was yelling at the TV for about 10 minutes when it was over. What kind of racing has this become when good cars just drop to the back because they are literally afraid to race at the front for fear of being caught up in a big crash. I understand the logic and can't really argue with it, as JJ proved it's worth. But how crappy is that to watch?? Then all day guys just driving around waiting for the end to actually RACE. Harvick actually was so bored he said on the radio he wished he had his IPOD. ME TOO!!!! Then I saw Knaus on NASCAR NOW on speed and he was saying how exciting the race was to watch (more screaming at the TV). Yeah, when you're in first place and you see other contenders on their roofs I'm sure your excited you snide little *&%$@!.

And the sad fact that this "random disaster" they call restrictor plate racing has such weight on the championship!! Poor Mark Martin! He and Gordon both got caught, totally none of their own doing as usual, except now JJ has the championship in the bag. I'm not sure I can even watch any more races now. How is this exciting to watch? It happens at every race w/ the plates....eventually someone pushes too far and because it's a traffic jam 1/2 the field gets collected. I really think after more than 25 years of loyalty they may have pushed me too far this time. I'm sooooo pissed I am even going to do something I very rarely do..... use smilies! :cursing: :banghead:  :cursing: :(

so my question is....am I being over-sensitive or has Nascar really turned a corner with it's "close competition no matter what" BS? I long for the days of REAL STOCK CARS. The cars are basically the same now, some of the models they race even have 4 door counterparts in the showroom. I think if a manufacturer built a better stock car they should win every race, too bad, let the other guys step it up. GET RID OF PLATES. If they have to stop racing at superspeedways, so be it. What other kind of racing has competitors actually pushing each other around the track? And god forbid you have a great car and no one likes you and you have to race alone.....you have no chance of winning.

your thoughts?

I feel ya man, I don't mind the idea of restrictor plates just think they have to change them. I think back when cars finally began to push the 200 mark back in the 80's it was definitely a necessity as safety was still an issue. I believe the COT is much better safety wise but hey, its not supposed to flip like that...so maybe it still has some work needed. I was really pissed when drivers were told no bump drafting through corners, what the f* kind of racing is that.

GOD do I wish Dale was around to hear that. Whatever happened to the old sayings "rubbing is racing" and "God made bumpers and...bumpers were made for bumping."

NASCAR has kinda of turned away from the original idea, at least I think so. I find the SS races to be kind of boring these days and the only reason to watch anymore is to watch someone go airborne within the last 5 laps. This is what the 2nd or 3rd time a SS race has ended with a checkered yellow?

*SS = Super Speedway

Recently I have been watching alot of the le mans racing and it really is something else to watch, at least IMO. I don't know if anyone watched the last 12 or so minutes of Laguna Seca this year but man was that some racing. Heres a LINK to it. Maybe NASCAR should take a page out of their bookk.

Although I haven't found many other NASCAR fans here, I'm with you. I've been a NASCAR fan for many years and love the "sport". (There's an argument waiting to happen... LOL).

I HATE restrictor plate racing!!! It's not even racing! They want it to be all about "safety". Because without the plates, on a huge track like Taladaga, the cars can easily surpass 200 mph. Well so what! Let 'em race!:cursing:

That race was absolutely miserable for everyone watching. And DANGEROUS as well. 43 cars piled on top of each other at 190 mph!!! Are you kiddin' me?!!!!!:cursing:

Much safer (not to mention more enjoyable) to get rid of the plates and let 'em race.

The fans hate it, the drivers hate it........

[Yes, you got me on a RANT too!:banghead:]

+1 on the rants.

My company used to sponsor three NASCARS back in the day when racing was the main focus. I loved going to the Riverside race here in southern California - a tight road course made for some real excitement and you really saw the cream rise to the top. Tim Richmond drove our Folger's car owned by Rick Hendrick and crew chief was the infamous Harry Hyde. Man that's when racing was racing. I miss it!
