Pricing for maintenance details

IMO you have got to charge an hourly rate, otherwise someones going to come up short. 90% of the time that someone will be you. If you explain this to your customers most will understand perfectly :-B

I'm very happy you are getting business Barry. This is great news and I know you will give it your all :soldier:

Once you get better aquainted with your customers you should expand your services :2 cents:

Thanks Flash.

Don't you charge a flat rate on scheduled maintenance after the first detail has been done?

Good Point :-? Yes I do :-B

I charge between $75-$125 for monthly maintenence. This entails a thorough wash, a coat of nube, and the interior wiped cleaned. Usually takes between 2.5 hrs - 4 hrs. I average $30-$35 an hour. That is about all this market will bare Da Rules!

How regular? Is he wanting a weekly spruce up or monthly? As others have said before dont sell yourself short just because you are doing it for the same guy more often. It takes time and work even if the car is well maintained (by you).

Over the summer I did a weekly wash for a guy with a porsche. He had had another guy lined up that was cheaper than I was but the guy was unreliable so he had me do it once and that sealed the deal. I was more expensive but I was reliable and did a much better job. I guess what Im saying is water seeks its own level and if the client really wants a great job he will pay for it so dont cut yourself short.

i am new on "market" but so far i have 3 regulars:
- first has 2 cars , i usually get one every week and i charge 50$ , if needed the second one get a quick wipe for 20$
- second has 2 suv , i normal go with 140$ for both , he want`s me to clean /wash them once a month i go with 120$ , if i have both cars there in 4-5 hours are done , and i am 1 person.
- third has 1 suv and 1 sedan , i go with 140$ because is a little far.

here is a BIG TIP: i may loose some cash there but looking fw in few months when i will have helper , time should be half and keep the price, how is that sound.
and another tip: every 2-3 months i can sell a leather treatment as extra or extra seal/wax , in 6mo or a year a paint correction, or claybar , or polish.... see the point

if i get a job from someone who pay well ,he doesn`t give me hard time , has multiple vehicles, he is interested in regular maintenance , than i give him a price to keep him close but still in my profit rate. on long run he will be a gold mine.
that`s how i start 6 mo ago and it works!

Thank you very much for the input cos. That is a great point about selling additional services, and I think that is what Flash was referring to as well. If he is willing to pay to keep his rides looking their best, there is no reason that he wouldn't want the additional services.

Thanks guys!!!!

as i said even if u don`t get the "steake" at first , in time is worth it having a regular client, plus will always be ocassion to referral , or up-sell.
but charge enough so you are not loosing with your time/work ratio

Yes Barry, I provide all kinda services for my select clients. I take there cars in for repairs. Growing up poor and having a good deal of knowledge relating to what maintanence is actually needed I save my clients thousands of dollars in repair bills alone. I never recommend taking your car back to the dealer for service aftrer the purchase. I mean come on, $600 for an oil change is ridonkolous. If you spend 60,80,100k on a car I expect it not to need 5k worth of repairs each year. Plus, you never get that money back. No one ask to see the records when it comes time to sell X_X

I also pick up there clients from the airport, take my clients to the airport. I provide security and chaffuer service when my clients want to have a night on the town and don't want to drive drunk. You ppl think I act a fool, you should see how the super wealthy act when having a good time. my lips are sealed. I have a client with biz intrest in Japan. I can't tell you how many times I have toured Graceland. Those lil fellas love them some Elvis. Well, Elvis and Titty Bars :-B

I have keys and codes to 100 mill worth of houses and possesions. I water plants, feed fish, pickup mail, walk dogs. Whatever it is that can make my clients life, easier I am there for them. Its really quite amazing how well you get to know someone, and how much they will open up to you if they find someone they can trust Da Rules!

I know for a fact I am not the best detailer in the world (and have no desire to be) What I offer is someone that you can trust with your possesions, someone who won't try to screw your wife, someone who is always 15 minutes early, someone who is loyal, someone you can depend on time and time again :soldier:
