As the spam says, I want to "fire my boss" before leaving for grad school next fall.
I've checked out score.org and am close to putting together a business plan. Advertising, flyers, magnets, and websites will come later, but before I can even put together the business plan I need guidance from the professionally experienced.
The question: are people, on the whole, reticent to give you their car for the day/unwilling to drop off their car for a couple of hours? Yes, I realize it is the most convenient for all pro detailers to use the garage, but I feel I can do the best work in my familiar environment with guaranteed power/water/light. Should I suck it up and practice more with mobile detailing? I have done some test runs using the two cars (packing one and cleaning the other without cheating) but I'm never satisfied as much as the final garage walk-arounds.
In summary, let me know what to expect. I spend an average of 3-5 hours per vehicle depending on condition and size. The vehicles don't all receive the same treatment because I aim for the same result instead. My pricing decisions will come along later with the advertising and flyers, etc... Should I stand firm on working out of the home or will I have to cave and attempt to make the Varsity Mobile team?
Thanks in advance.
