For the longest time, I've been struggling with windows on my windshield. The window looks clean when it's dry but when water is on the windshield and/or the wipers pass over certain spots, there is a definite streaking going on. In particular, at the end of the wiper travel, there is a streak about 1 inch wide and a 12" long.

These streaks would just not go away no matter what I tried.. I even tried claying my windshield with no results.

On the advice of JazzyJack, I tried a 50/50 mixture of distilled vinegar and water. I sprayed it on the windshield, let it sit for a few minutes then used #0000 steel wool in small circular motions. I kept the steel wool wet with the 50/50 mixture and went over the entire windshield. Once finished, I sprayed the mixture on again, let it sit and repeated with the steel wool. I did this about 5 times.

Before I left my apartment I cleaned my windshield with EO 20/20 and while driving to the carwash, the window was streaking like crazy. After trying out the steel wool cleaning method, I didn't clean my wipers just to be sure the streaking was gone. I drove back to my apartment and it was raining like crazy.. usually my windshield streaks, but not this time! All the streaking was gone.

Just thought I'd share this technique that might possibly help someone else!

When I got back to my apartment, I proceeded to apply Aquapel. See my next post for my experience.

Just completed, this car is a R&D vehicle for Sharkwerks and has a built motor with 3.9 ltrs of displacement over the stock 3.6 ltrs.

Officially a "Track Bi***" the car just recieved HRE R40's thier lightest one piece wheel in 18" and later the suspension will be upgraded to a custom Ohlin's set up next week after the shoot for Total 911 a UK based Porsche enthusiast magazine.

The car is run hard, with rides for customers and track duty for fun and development(took the car for a ten minute spin from Sharkwerks to my shop and it is "The Poo".

Starting with the wash.....

Back in the shop after a thorough cleaning, the carbon wing was marred pretty bad.

Yes the car had a "Pre-cut" kit on it, and it looked like 3M as opposed to Venture or another brand etc....

I have a '11 White Turbo S landing on March and I am not sure what product to use for clear bra protection. I want 100% of the hood covered so i think Venture and Xpel are teh 2. Venture has been reccommended to me my by people on this board but the Xpel is new.

Do you have any opinion on what would look and last best? I plan on covering every painted surface the wind hits head on, plus sils and jam's and rear bumper up to engine compartment.

Thanks!

Jeff

First off congrats on the impending delivery of one of the best cars in the world, I have recently driven a stock and modified version of the 2011 Turbo S and it is incredible!!!.

The installer is the most important aspect of this, you have Detailing Dynamics and Exec paint pro in your backyard so not sure who you are going with as DD uses Venture and Exec paint pro uses Xpel which both look nice, just remember to do a full custom wrap and also wrap the leading edge of the rear wheel arch and wing.

Thanks, I have been planning this order since I was 14 yrs old. Car is in production as we speak. I asked my dealer to see if they could add an extra coat of clear to the car, and he was like-Nobody ever asked that before? Answwer-No. Not on stock colors, only on paint to sample which is like a 5K upgrage-plus the clear no thanks.

Venture vs Xpel. Can you give me the pro's and con's of both. This is my first experience with clear film. My DD has been peppered and I dont want to damage the Porsche. The Porsche will NOT be a DD. Most concerned initially on clarity as the car is white and then durability / maintainability.

Thanks,

Jeff

This a question for your local installation facility, another option on the 2011 Turbo is a painted "Turbo" badge($250.00 usd) of course when I am on the configurator the car is Macadamia/cocoa with centerlocks(which would be swapped with the quickness for the Champion magnesium centerlocks) sport seats and aero kit.........if I was "Monied up" (lol)

I did order the centerlocks (stock standard on the S). Maybe some custom wheels in the future. For now I am excited to roll it stock for a while and enjoy the car. The options on this car can raise the price by 20-30% easily. I did go with adaptive sport seats (heated), Several CF interior bits and then the numbers reached my limit (more than I planned on spending in the first place) so I stopped short of the deviated stitching and other goodies.

The evoloution of this order wernt like this, I was looking for a 911 C4S Cab, optioned it up and it was close to the TT cab. I optioned up the TT and since I selected Ceramic Brakes the S Cab was just a few more and came with everything and 530 HP.

I hear you on the Instalation facility being the one to answer my question but I am looking for an independent opinion. It is like asking Burger King who has better fryies tehm or McDonanlds (or visa versa) everyone is selling what they have. I wish someone carried both so I could get an unbiased opinion. I don't have teh experience or expertise to make the call nor the time before the car lands to get the education first hand. I have a recommendation on the VS but the Xpel is new and could be better or worse.

Anyway have a great day and i appreciate your help.

Have a great day!
