Polishing w Makita

Very new to polishing to remove swirl marks and I have been experimenting with a friends Makita.

My question is, how do I prevent splatter ..... I know to smear the polish around then start w a slow rpm to distribute it before I speed it up some... but once that is done and Im polishing away, if i get near an edge of say the hood or a door handle, the pad splatters some sort of dust, or the polish from the pad and it looks like my truck was just snowed on...

is there a way to avoid this? sorry if that question was difficult to understand.

Thanks,

Derek

Too much product

what he said. ...and, if you are kicking around product and dust when you get near edges and handles, etc, you need be more worried about those edges than the splatter you are producing.

Good luck, take your time, and have fun with it. :bigups
