My Canon S2 IS was delivered yesterday and I absolutely love it so far...it has a lot of features which can be confusing at times. I thought it would be interesting to have a thread in the hot-tub dedicated to posting some of your pictures you have taken...Feel free to post camera info; shutter speeds, aperture settings etc... Hopefully this will help people like me who are just starting out! :)

-Ive been up since 12 am with a detail till 5 am, sleep 3 hours, and Im at work from 8:30 to 1 am tonight...so dont push my buttons for not posting my pics :D I will post the pictures i took yesterday when I get home. Looking forward to seeing your pictures!! :cooleek:

Hoo boy, here I go! :)

I'll start with Rock - these are ones that have been published. All shots are with either a Canon 300D or 30D, 28-135mm IS 3.5-5.6, 50mm 1.8, or 17-35mm 2.8 lenses. All Rock shots are ISO 1600.

I look forward to seeing what everyone else has in store!

Heres a bunch of random shots from my gallery. Most of them are straight out of the camera. I haven't had time to post process many of them, especially the ones from new camera. The jump from P+S to dSLR is pretty big, I have so much control over the shots now which I wanted so I can learn how to properly use the camera and settings.

The first five we're from my new Canon Digital Rebel XT w/ 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM :)

The falls and Sequia are from Yosemite. the golf course is none other than Pebble Beach in Monterey. I must have 200 more pics from our trip including US1 and Big Sur. did not want to go crazy and post a ton of pics. I am at work and these were a couple of pics I had on my pc. thanks for the compliment. let me know if you guys want more.

Come this year to Yosemite.

We have had a lot of rain/snow this yea in the Sierra.

(they are talking about late May skiing)

The falls in Yosemite should be spectacular by May.

You probably could not get within 200 yards of the Lower Yosetime Fall (the fall in flatstick's pics) with all the sprays and the noise should be thunderous.

Here is a practice shot using the panoramic effect:

Sorry my pictures are so boring compared to others! :( Love the pictures so far; thanks for all the replies! For some of these pictures; like the cop car, I would love it if the car was in focus and the background was blurred..when I change the aperture, the background still seems to be in focus...any suggestions?

Nice shots so far Josh, glad your liking the S2 IS I really like that pano :xyxthumbs

To blur the background set your camera to the max aperture, should be like f/2.8 or f/3.5 on your camera. That should give you the most shallow DOF. I know there are ways to do it in Photoshop too, I just don't know how.
