The roof was a DIY job and after inspecting the area I had to approach this differently than the rest of the body. First off there were spots in the roof showing the OEM blue, this led me to believe that in some areas the paint was thin. So my plan of attack was 1100 rpm (lowest speed on my rotary) on a white pad with 106ff, very carefully. Here are the results, an improvement but nothing I'm pleased with.

If you notice in some of these shots the rear spoiler is full of heavy orange peal and sanding marks. The rear spoiler, rear bumper, side skirts, nosepanel, mirrors and bumper are all the same way in appearance. Since my meter cannot read the levels of microns on these body panels, I had to approach it the same way I did with roof.

car looks incredible man! The transformation was just simply amazingly done. Blue's always tend to come out real nice when prepped properly and that you did! Keep up the excellent work.

Excellent paint correction!

The paint chipping and the hood and front bumper are horrific, much more than typically seen in E36 M3's I've seen. A bumper respray wound do wonders for the looks.

Excellent job returning the gloss to that shot paint!

I did a similar '99 M3 (but convertible) whose paint was very similar, and while the swirls were removed, a lot of that knick-knack chipping action & miniature CC failure whatnot (I don't know what it's called) remained.

That gloss is great!

Over 200k miles for this guy. It needs a respray badly, if I was the owner I would do it for sure. Thanks again!

I've noticed that a lot on BMW's (primarly the only cars I do), seems so common :(.

Thanks again! :2thumbs:
