I know that using the PC at speed 6 is very popular, and I used to use it at 6 all the time... I still use it at 6 for Menzerna polishes, but for my Meguiars ones I never use speed 6 anymore as it dries up the polish too fast before it has a chance to properly break down. Instead, speed 5 for slow passes with medium pressure and a long time for the rpoduct to thoroughly break down. With #80 and #83 I have found superior results using this technique.
Another thing I've been starting to notice in the UK is PCs dying, and its generally the ones that have seen regular use at speed 6 that are failing. It seems to really knock the units for 6, which is why I've stepped down to using them on speed 5 now most of the time - if I need more power, the Makita comes out.
