PB's Polish with Sealant

I think I know what the problem is, but just curious on others thoughts. I washed the car on Sunday and noticed some etching on the hood. Since I was out of SSR1 (I really need to do a full polish one day, it has been over a year ), I pulled out my bottle of PwS since it looked minor. Hit the hood with a LC white polishing pad and the PwS. Helped some, but not enough, so I pulled out the yellow pad to be a little more aggressive. I was looking for a one-step at the time since it was getting late and just before dinner. Polished the whole hood with the yellow pad and PwS (stills needs work though, might have to get the SSR2 out) and called it a night.

So it rained hard this morning while I was getting ready for work. Went out to the car (stopped raining by then), and the hood had absolutely no beading. The rest of the car (which had not been polished) was beading nicely.

I think the problem is with the pad and that I was doing more polishing and not really laying down any sealant. Does that sound right? Is PwS pad dependent, and if so, how just the "polish" compare to the SSR's? Less or more aggressive than SSR1?

I was going to go home after work today and spray some Aquawax on the hood, but it has alrady started to rain again

Thanks,
Neil

Yellow pad is an aggressive cut pad.

Orange would be the next one higher after white.

Now you need to finish down, so to speak

using the yellow pad did not allow you to leave any Sealant behind .. the yellow is way too aggressive and is literally scuffing the surface ...
As stated by Ron you need to step down to either white or black and redo.

What do you have on the rest of the car?

The rest of the car has DG Aquawax. I have been really bad about the car for the past year. The house and kid have been taking most of my time, as was work until lately. Now we have slowed down so much I might be out of a job in a month or two....

I figured the yellow pad was too aggressive to leave any sealant behind. I just didn't have time to go back and finish it again with the white pad, plus I actually need to polish it more to get rid of the etching before I put on an LSP. I will probably spray with some AW for short term protection, and then polish it later when I have more time.

Now, just to add to the mystery some, it had rained lightly for about 30 minutes before I left work. Walked out to my car and looked at the hood, and guess what I see? :hmmm:
