Other household uses for your Detailing supplies?

It really does work wonders on the dust on a tv or laptop screen.

Herb, did you try it on a computer LCD screen? Mine is driving me nuts with the dust it collects. Plain water just doesn't get it clean.

However the dust is the main problem, it's a dust magnet!

Changeling

I use fk1 425 on my tv's, computer laptop, mirrors, glass, etc.

I did my sinks with 1000p 3 coats and it still working good. My girlfriend hates it cause everything slides all over on the top of it.

I also used it in my old house on a glass top stove and it worked good also. Be careful though, pots slide all over though. I am glad I have a gas stove noe. LOL!

Now I have to use in on my showers when I get the time and she is not home. Just DO NOT use it on the bottom of the shower, it could be deadly.

Bump!

I had to bump this thread because I knew I wasn't alone on this issue.

I just applied a coat of Collinite 476 to the shower doors/walls and the counter in the bathroom. I actually had to debate on warning the wifey about the wax!

I've been considering using Megs NXT metal polish on the brushed metal (ss, al??) fridge. :)

I use Zymol HD Cleanse, and Carbon Wax on my lacquer finish drums. And, (don't laugh!) Turtle Wax Ice Paste wax on my cymbals.

Just noticed this...

I'd be pretty leery of using a metal polish on that until you know for certai what it is. If it's clear-anodized aluminum you could really mess it up in no time.

Thanks for the warning. :up

That's why I'd do a test spot someplace inconspicuous first!

Agreed, automotive metal polish will most likely turn your brushed SS look into a highly polished chrome look and I also think it would look blotchy. I'd stick with a MF and water. If you need a detergent for stubborn soil use a gentle one and wipe it off with a damp MF. If you have stains use a dedicated SS cleaner made for household appliances and test first.

SS is durable and can be kept clean easily. Use a glass cleaner for fingerprints but be sure to avoid anything that has chlorine bleach in it. Regular wipedown with a damp MF is all I need.

How about the other way around? My friends father used Pledge (yes, furniture polish) on his 69 Mustang. The finish looked great, but that can't be good for it. I always was amazed, but never said anything, just smiled..... ;)

Pledge is an old car show thing. The oils give the paint alot of gloss until the car is in the rain or washed.

Agreed, the SS fridge has a brushed finish, so I don't think polish is called for. A damp MF with or without a few squirts of ONR QD is what I use on my SS fridge and dishwasher now; different from my last post from a couple years ago. I use ONR QD all over the house!

My toilet and shower have both been Klasse'd.

Meg's 83 with an W8006 pad on my Kohler fiberglass shower and jacuzzi tub. Topped off with Meg's UQD. Looks better than new.
