Ordering from Meguiars.com

I ordered some QD and a quart of M105 from meguiars.com early Monday morning. As of right now, neither item has shipped. Is this normal for meguiars.com to take so long to ship? I'm thinking seriously about calling and canceling the order. Instead of ordering the QD, I'll save the money and put it toward a gallon of M105 from ADS instead.

Your better off order from ADS like u mentioned!! Ive had people tell me the same thing about things not being in stock from Meguiars.com and taken weeks to get it!!

I really dont understand the logic behind it either considering they are the source but I guess there shipping everything out so your better off getting it from a vendor!!

ADS is topnotch in my book!!

Yeah, I think I'll call tomorrow morning to cancel the order. I think I'll order some of Optimum's new QD instead, then just bite the bullet and get a gallon of M105. I have a feeling it won't go to waste. :)

So glad the largest Meguiars professional product distributor is right here in Dallas. I can just go down and get what I want. :)

i know they are slower than normal when i bought 21 it took a few days but i did not need it

I am still waiting for some #21 v2 that they promised me back in Janurary. Unbelievable!!!

I ordered a gallon of M80 from them, along with some clay; it took a week & a half for them to get it through from Nashville to San Diego. Apparently, the order didn't go through initially because the guy who took the order screwed up on entering my last name, and it came back to the credit card company because it didn't match. In a way, it was good, because my credit card company called to verify that I HAD ordered it and that it wasn't a fraudlent charge, and it was bad because the guy who placed the order screwed up on it and it delayed my order shipment.

But, I ordered it because of a discount that was being applied, and it was before I'd learned about ADS. Now, I'll place an order through ADS, because I can get other things from them as well as the Megs products that I DO like. :)

Like others have said, order from Rick at ADS. Fast shipping and great customer service. Plus he has sample size of most of the products so you don't have to order an entire gallon.

I ordered about $100 worth of product about a week ago and it came today, which was reasonable, I've ordered from them in the past with no problem as well. Guess it depends what you order. Their prices are a little better than other sites and very low shipping too.

ADS has M105 for 70 buck per gallon. Meguiars.com is 94

ADS has M105 for 24 bucker per quart. Meguiars.com is 32

I did a bunch more price comparisons between meguiars and ADS, too. ADS is less expensive on every item I've checked so far. Not trying to be argumentative, just thought I'd check it out after you said that meguiars.com prices are reasonable. :) I can't speak to the shipping costs, since Megs still hasn't shipped my order and they don't have shipping charges shown yet.

SuperBee364, if you want give Brian Hann a call at 800-854-8073, Ext. 170. He's in Meguiar's customer care center. Super helpful and a nice guy.

I just got off the phone with Meguairs. The guy said that both products I had ordered were on backorder. I told him that it would be nice if they could send an email stating that they were back ordered, or at least show stocking status of their products on their web page like 99.99% of all e-tailers do. If it's shown on a web page, and able to be ordered, it d@mn well better be in stock. If not, there should be big red letters saying "Out of stock, On Back Order". He said that "our web guys are working on it". I told him they needed new web guys, cause they are years behind everyone else. Don't think I'll be ordering from megs.com anytime soon.

Bummer! I use mostly Meguiar's products but always order from ADS or get it local. My local Sherwin Williams Automotive store has most mirror glaze products in stock, if not it only takes them a day or two to get them. I have an account set up and with that discount the prices are about the same as ADS. Plus I don't have to pay shipping. I've been meaning to stop in and see if they have M105 and M21v2 yet. Good luck!

Shoot... too late. Already called and canceled the order.

Meguairs.com whole site is just awkward and not very well done.

No product inventory status

No shipping charges shown until the product ships. (So you don't know what your total order charge is going to be until after it ships).

Poor navigation. It's hard just to get to your previous order screens.

No automated emails for backordered items.

You would expect much more from a large company like Megs.

Most all companies I order from send you an email stating what you ordered, and they provide a link to directly go to their web site for up to date information on your order status. Megs sends an email that says something like "to check your order status, you must go to meguaiars.com and log on to your account". They don't even provide a link to go to the log in page.

All of these things are trivial, yes, but it all adds up to either a positive or negative customer experience. Especially when five days go by, your order hasn't shipped, and you have no idea why.

Thanks, Blue. :) I think I'll go hop in the car and do some driving... hopefully find a place that carries a good selection of Megs. If nothing else, it gives me a reason to drive the car....

Edit: Just went back to Meguairs.com to see if they had a "find a Megs retailer in your area" function. What was I thinking... of course they don't.

I think you're expecting too much from Meguiars.com. They provide this service as a convenience for their customers, it's not their primary distribution channel. The orders are sent, as I understand it, from their main distribution center which also serves all the chain stores, paint and body shops, etc.

That being said, I don't order from them anymore because their service is sub-par in relation to their distributors. But that could also be said for Duragloss and perhaps other large manufacturers. I don't think it's fair to compare the internet operations of these large manufacturers to small web-only distributors.

Clearly.

As far as it being a fair comparison them vs. small business, you have to compare competition to competition, regardless of the size. And big companies can rapidly become small companies if they don't react (in a positive manner) to the competition. I can see how many, many customers could jump the meguiars.com ship and start ordering from the small guys that are doing it right. Count me in.

If they chose to "provide this service to the customer", then they need to provide the service to the customer in a satisfactory manner, not "as a favor". Doing anything less hurts their business. So I'm not exactly bowing down to them and sayin, "oh thank you Great Meguairs, for allowing lowly me to order from your distribution behemoth." I'm taking my dollars somewhere else... somewhere that does it right, regardless of size. Remember, Setec, size doesn't matter. :)
