Optimum Polish Reformulated

hmm...Good find! I will have to order some soon and try it out to see if I like the difference. I wonder how you know if you recieve the new version or the old? :nixweiss

BTW: Nice car in the description :chuckle:

Their old formula was VERY lumpy and clumpy. I had to send mine back and they sent me a fresh batch of the new polish. Good stuff!

It will have a gold sticker on it saying "New and Improved"

Optimum Polish has been sold out alot of places. Optimum was waiting on a special machine so clumps would be a thing of the past. This is why there was a shortage not that to many knew.

Figures...I just ordered some on the 17th and it doesn't have the sticker.

I got some from david on a replacement for my clumpy lumpy stuff. I used it with Seans HTEC/OPT 50/50 and it still worked great. It seems to be a more golden color rather than the white and smells more like the hyper but I didnt see any performance different.

The top will allow for better distribution. Faster cutting action also......Very nice product....And a little creamier, with less separation.

so there is a better top?

Damnit, I just ordered $150 dollars worth of supplies. My justification....Im leaving for college so my dad wont have anything to wash the cars with while im gone. :nixweiss

Faster cutting action huh? So David added more abrasives to give it a bit more bite? People must have been asking for more aggressiveness...but I wasn't aware of it. The OC is what needed more bite - I'd like to see OC a little more between OP and OHP. While I'm at it, I'd like to see Optimum come out with a truely heavy compound (heavier than OHC for sure)...if it can be done while retaining the beatiful "working" properties of the polish line.

And I'll be glad to see new tops - I was taking tops from old FMJ bottles because the Optimum tops had such small spout holes.

I highly doubt one will need new tops with the new formula as it's very creamy. It is also slightly more aggressive at start but finishes out just as fine as the old formula.

Same long term use and little to no dusting.

It better not be too much different.

Clumpy and a crappy top, I still love my Optimum.

Same here, my friend.

My understanding (I had the same experience so i called) was the tops were originally designed to avoid applying too much product. Then there was a batch that was not mixed properly, and thats where/when the folks had issues. The clumping never really bothered me. If the clumps were hardened, that would have been different.

So, now theres a new mixing procedure, and redesign of the polishing formula, with the addition of a new spout. (I hope Im not over stepping boundaries here, just explaining as my individual concerns were answered.)

Anyway....I ended up just transferring the product to a smaller more manageable bottle anyway. Its a little difficult for me to carry a qt size container in my back pocket. I remember losing my qt of Speed Glaze when I dropped it, and the top exploded off, sending SG nearly everywhere.

Didn't someone mention the last batch being hand mixed by David sometime before? Mine doesn't seem thick when I shake it and it doesn't have a big spout. Either way I'm not worried, just wondering...

The bottle that I just got from Optimum (after sending my chunky one to them) has a sticker that says "new forumla". Its nice and creamy now, no chunks.

I agree, I would like to see OC a little more aggressive. Sounds like the new formula is better though, a little more aggressive is ok as long as it polishes out the same and not being thick and clumpy will be nice.

I haven't had the opportunity to use my OP since I got it months ago. I've just been too busy.

I'm pretty sure I have the old formula though...
