Optimum No Rinse Wash impressions

I am still buying some when I make my next AG order! Id like to get rid of my water tank and pump.

What do you guys use to clean engines when you do an ONR wash because you dont have water to use?

Personally, I almost never clean engines due to the liability issues. I can clean engines using ONR and Optimum Power Clean. I also have a rinse bucket that I use. I find very few customers even care about the engine anyway. Most don't even know how to open the hood! :lol

I was skeptical and had a bottle of ONR in my garage for months now. I tried it today and it far exceeded my expectations:D I used the 2 bucket method with a Eurow microfiber shag weave that I got from Patrick at Excel a while back and I was amazed how easy it was to wash and dry my car. The results were stunning! I should have listened to you guys a long time ago.

As promised-dirty ONR water after washing an Avalanche and a pretty clean looking $2 MF covered foam pad.

It rained earlier in the week, so I felt my car was too dirty to wash with ONR, so I washed with the hose.

Man, I forgot how much easier it is to wash a car with ONR. It took much longer with the hose, and it was a struggle to not get water spots.

Are you saying you used that foam pad to wash the Avalanche? My mf towels would look "dark" just due to absorbing the ONR and always retain dirt. Do not rinse cleanly in plain water. I have to use dawn.

OMG!!!! Get that MF pad off the sand!!!!!!!

That is concrete, not sand.

Bunky-yes, that is the MF pad I used to wash the Avalanche. Washed 5 more cars with it, still looks nearly that clean. Dirt seems to rinse out of those pads very easily.

Sorry if the Eurow MF horse has been beaten to death, but... they really are amazing towels.

no need to apologize. yes, they are amazing towels and at the price, quality and value, they can't be beat... :up

p.s. i used one today and after many/several repeated washings, they still have held up very well... :2thumbs:

I'm still happy with mine, but they do seem to lint more than they used to.

i've had issues with linting with some even more expensive towels and i find to do two different loads has helped. one for the good paint towels, etc., and the other for everything else...

Yep, I already do the two load method.

Here's a question: hot, warm, or cold water?

i use the warm/cold water setting, but if the towels are pretty stained i use the warm/warm setting. also, using vinegar in the last rinse cycle helps release anything left behind as well...

Ok, I'll bite on this thread since I'm thinking of picking up a bottle of ONR for versatile clay lube and QD. However, I'd like to help conserve water and use it for washing as well, but I already use DG 901 via foam gun / one-bucket and grit guard along with CRSpotless so I don't have to hand-dry. Is there any benefit to be gained by using ONR in my case? I'm mostly concerned about water spots (and I don't want to towel dry because I'm lazy). My municipal water quality isn't very good.

I guess I could just ONR without DI'ed water then? Just feather a grout sponge over the surfaces and let it dry on its own? I've always been skeptical about ONR but if so many on this forum have good experiences with it, I'm assuming the product has some merit.

Towel drying is a must with ONR with or without DI'ed water. The advantages are less water used (1-2 gallons), no runoff into storm drains, and polymer protection left behind on surfaces. After getting a routine down, most people save time as well.

Here's a video Scottwax made showing the process:

It is quicker for me now.

I have less going back around to wipe away all the drips, etc coming out of seams, etc due to the wash and rinse being forced into cracks plus the time with the hose, etc. Also, I prefer to do wheels last since I want to use the remaining soap mixture so less chance of getting spray on paint, etc. If I do wheels first, I make two batches so I am washing paint with a clean bucket of soap so that is extra time saved.

When you are done, you are done.

I always use warm. Not to sound cocky here, but I never have a problem with my mf’s linting (anymore). I noticed that they stopped linting once I got rid of my old washing machine and moved got a new one. I went from top loader to front loader. I would guess it helped since there’s no agitator in the middle to help rip up your fabrics.
