Just on persons opinion.

My wife had a 2001 Civic LX, we sold it after just 2 years. Yes, it was totally reliable and got great gas mileage. But it was Boring (notice the capital B)!
They dumbed down the rear suspension, jacked the car up, deleted ABS (or even rear rotor brakes), and put a horrible set of skinny tires on it for low confidence in highway driving.
A big thumbs down. Honda used to be about light, low, sporty, reliable, and cheap. The sporty side made them better driver's cars than Toyota. Now they are just reliable appliances.
You can argue all you want about EX or Si versions, but I still say they lost their way. My wife bought a MINI Cooper S, and loves it. Perhaps it is the counterpart to the classic old CRX, a car they wouldn't dream of making today.
