Opinions of Meg's M21

I remember reading something akin to that too, was it not something like NXT is the best protecting but 21 was the most durable?

As I understand it all of Meguiars products are designed to work together and as such you should experience no bonding issues.

All Meguiar's LSPs are water based, according to Mike Phillips. I had an in-depth phone discussion with him about this. I too was surprised to discover it.

One of the things I found using #21 is that water will actually separate out from the product as you use it. Drops of water will come up on the back of the pad. If you saturate the pad too much, you can squeeze it and water will drip out. This is a concern of mine about #21, that it has a tendency to de-emulsify, and with a large container the shelf life might not be as long as an average user might desire.

straight from the horses mouth:

"Meguiarâ€â„¢s new paint sealant contains no Carnauba wax or any natural ingredient as far as the protection value is concerned. NXT Generation Tech Wax is still Meguiarâ€â„¢s best protecting product"

I was hoping for something like SG but that goes on/off EASY. But from the sounds of it, it's not much better than NXT in terms of protection

My experience belies this. NXT might be a better protecting product in theory, or in the lab, or even on my car. But my experience with #21 is that it holds its look much longer, and is still slick as heck and still beads strong after 6 weeks, with bugs and bird droppings coming off with a blast of the hose.

So NXT is not a water based product ? if not, its funny that their retail product is more toxic than their pro line !

I don't think it says anything anywhere in my post about NXT. It says that ALL Meg's LSPs are water based, and that would include NXT.

yeah, but woulding Durability is a broader term than protecting.

So if it's durable, it means it's still protecting. In other words, if it's beading (assuming it's on old paint and it wont bead without wax) then the finish is protecting.

But if it's just protecting, it doesn't mean itll bead.

So in other words, durable is preferred to protecting. Because if it's durable, it means it's not *only* protecting, the wax itself is being durable. It'll protect and keep it's just waxed characteristics.

protection could refer to acid resistance from fallout or bird bird bombs wheras durability could refer to the actual polymer film remaining bonded to the surface

OMG--first of all, I don't think Mike Phillips ever said that, second of all, you guys are really splitting semantic hairs here, third of all....it's still protecting even though you can't tell it's there???

Hmm, well I think I have actually read where Mike stated that durability and protection are two different things, that is where I came up with the concept. It makes perfect sense to me. For instance on a scale of 1-10, NXT could be a 10 for protection, but only a 5 for durability. #21 could be a 9 for protetion and a 10 for durability. :nixweiss
