ONR'ing with Lowe's Proline Grout Sponge?

I don't use a gs with onr, no nap, it sticks to the paint almost on me, anything with a decent nap is a much better option imo.

Agreed. I'm really happy with my GS on regular washings, but I really don't like using it with ONR. for some reason it almost has a "suction cup" effect on the paint and I really don't feel comfortable pushing it around.

I am wondering when was the last time you clayed your vehicle. I have found it to have that effect on paint that has a lot of contamination. It really glides smoothly on mine.

Every time I have tried it with a gs it acted exactly as Sinner described, if the gs was held flush against the panel, it would suction up and not feel very friendly, much better mitt options for onr out there.

any of you guys pre-spraying each panel as you wash with one of these?

That can't be the issue. The car only leaves the garge on weekends and is consistently cleaned. I have probably only put 1000 miles on it since last claying and it hasn't seen any harsh conditions. The paint is smooth like butter.

 Maybe it just performs differently on different types of paint as with a lot of detailing products. But even then, I have found that using the wool mitt with ONR and with regular washes eventually led to some swirl marks while this has not been the case with the GS from Lowes. It might not have the same nice tactile feeling, but IMO, it is still safer than the wool mitten or MF because it rinses perfectly clean and it absorbs particles better, which prevents them from marring your paint. So, even with the wool mitt or MF sliding better across the paint, this does not equate to better protection if you have a particle between the mitt and the paint. But you still have to use whatever you feel more comfortable using and what works for you. :2thumbs:

What department in Lowe's will that be found? Thanks.

Cleaning supplies, with the mops, brooms, etc. I do believe the car cleaning supplies are also there, including other sponges (which I would not recommend)

nice little write-up. you gotta love how soft the GS is (even softer when wet) and how easy it rinses clean as well... :2thumbs:

Thanks, BigAl3! I never would have thought to even try a GS -- or ONR, for that matter -- before reading the raves on this forum.

I know it's old hat around here, but I still am shocked at how well ONR works. And the GS seems like a nearly perfect media for it, considering how well it rinses.

It is, although it might not feel as nice as a wool mitt, it is still IMO based on experience a lot safer to use.

how do ya'll rinse your sponge between washing each section? do you rinse the sponge out or just dip in the bucket each time? New to the product.
