I live in a very low area 4 miles from the Mississippi River. Monday morning it was storming hard like it had been for several days before that, but I never imagined what was coming next. Monday night, my wife and I went to a concert, and at around midnight when we got to our community, it was under water. I tried to drive on through but soon realized that it was more than what my Tahoe could handle. Being tired and very aggravated, I decided to walk out into the water to see how deep it was before going on through the deeper part and immediately sank past my waist, ruining my phone. We spent the night on the side of the road that night in my truck, and had to be boated in the next morning. Thankfully our kids had spent the night with their grandma, who is our neighbor. After we finally got home we found out a water main had broken and nobody had water. We tried to stay but finally got boated out and drove 80 miles north to my parents house and have been here ever since. Our home will be fine since we live on a hill, but my garage will need alot of work after this. I feel like we are extremely lucky that all we really got was water after seeing what these storms have done in other areas. I hope everyone has made it through safely and pray for those who didnt. This storm has been like nothing I've ever seen.
