One heck of a week

I live in a very low area 4 miles from the Mississippi River. Monday morning it was storming hard like it had been for several days before that, but I never imagined what was coming next. Monday night, my wife and I went to a concert, and at around midnight when we got to our community, it was under water. I tried to drive on through but soon realized that it was more than what my Tahoe could handle. Being tired and very aggravated, I decided to walk out into the water to see how deep it was before going on through the deeper part and immediately sank past my waist, ruining my phone. We spent the night on the side of the road that night in my truck, and had to be boated in the next morning. Thankfully our kids had spent the night with their grandma, who is our neighbor. After we finally got home we found out a water main had broken and nobody had water. We tried to stay but finally got boated out and drove 80 miles north to my parents house and have been here ever since. Our home will be fine since we live on a hill, but my garage will need alot of work after this. I feel like we are extremely lucky that all we really got was water after seeing what these storms have done in other areas. I hope everyone has made it through safely and pray for those who didnt. This storm has been like nothing I've ever seen.

I am glad you and your family are safe and sound. A little discomfort is nothing compared to the loss of a loved one.

The rains, storms, floods have been ridiculous. Even worse down south.
Glad to hear you and yours are ok.

Thank you guys. Hopefully the water subsides soon and we can see what kind of damage we have to deal with. Im not going to complain about any of it though. It could have been much much worse.

Didn't the MS Gov just say that the MS river is expected to rise to it's highest level and cause severe flooding in the next 2-3 weeks?

Sorry that you had to spend a soggy night in the truck but thrilled to hear you and your family are fine. Please let us know how your home & property came through.

Yeah thats very true. To give you an idea of how high the water is right now, while boating out to the house today to make sure everything is alright, I could have stood up in the boat and almost touched the power lines...thankfully my home is still alright but Im afraid the garage will be a total loss. The Army Corp of Engineers are blowing up levees and flooding farm land tonight to relieve the stress on the levees. I guess we will just have to wait it out and hope for the best. Thanks for the kind words from everyone :)
