Old School Autopian Check In !!!

JUL 2001 here, but was a member before the crash/data loss.

I remember being part of the old BraveNet chats a couple times a week. That was just before Bynon went to the vBulletin format. I lost track of the forum for a couple months before joining.

Long time Lurker, first time caller! I mainly lurk, unless something comes up that I really feel I need to post. I used to years back a lot on MOL, kind of got burnt out on it... Lots of knowledge here though and the chat room is cool too!

Been a member since May, 2003. Both "old" and "school". Age 70 and a retired elementary school principal. Been washin', polishin' and waxin' vehicles for over 50 years. (We didn't call it detailng in those days.) I go back to when the original Blue Coral was the "go to" polish and wax.

Me too, spent 2 hard days using Blue Coral on a badly oxidized, baby blue '57 Chevy (in '65). And yes, the resulting shine was worth it.

I can't believe this is my first post - been reading and learning since 2001 - maybe even earlier, what year did we have re-register?

Well I actually joined in July of 2010 but was searching online for how to's and write-ups about detailing, and stumbled upon Autopia and a few others. Since then I been a semi-daily viewer and contributor. I have learned so much from these forums and the Pro's. Just wanted to say thanks. Would like someday to meet some the Pro's on here that have unknowingly contributed to the growth and success of our little, micro sized detailing business.

Still here, still detailing, still buying new things. Check in now and then, retired now, semi anyway. Looking for new car soon, first interesting one Caddy ats, Huyndia genesis coupe but not narrowed down yet.

i joined in early 05', but was a lurker a little before then. this is the best/un-biased board around with tons of excellent info with highly skilled detailers and just really good people to boot. it certainly changed the way i approach and care for cars and definitely makes you think...

I joined in '06 and have learned much from the regulars; Accumulator, ScottWax, and so many others whose names escape me now. Lots of great people and good information if you hit the search button. Like everyone else, I lost my post count after the upgrade and don't frequent as often as I did when I first joined, but I take a look at what's going on at least a couple times a month.

I wish everyone health and prosperity in the new year.

Terry

03 member checking in. This board has taught so much to so many. Glad to see you guys still going strong. Happy Holidays everyone.

According to my Profile, I've been a member since August 14th, 2002 (which I had to look at!)

Yes, since then alot has changed. My biggest "gripe" has been the demise of some very good car-products due to VOC-compliant regulations (like Meg's #16 wax not being sold in the United States anymore).

New sealants and now coatings have been a real game-changer in ease of use, durability, and shine, although I still very much old-school and love the look of a good carnauba wax.

Micro-fiber pads and more powerful dual-action polishers have really leveled the playing field against the traditional rotary buffers, along with newer compounds and polishes that take advantage of these techology changes.

But it is the contributing members who REALLY make the difference. I know that those of you who are reading this post can name some of those individuals whose posts have contributed greatly to your OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Detailing) habit and the original poster, David Fermani, is just one of many I personally have benefited from.

Thanks for starting this peticular post. Long live this forum and its great members, both new and old.

(No, "Grumpy", you are NOT old, just greatly experienced, and willing to share it with us!)
