I decided to experiment on my dad's car:
BEFORE:
I tried WG SG over NXT.. A Big NO ! NO !
Here's what i did..
I hit the paint with the usual DACP for some stubborn swirls, (Sonus Orange Pad)
then
Poorboys SSR2.5 for medium ones (Sonus Pad Green) and to give it some "pop"
I then layered NXT paste wax by hand and left it for about 15mins..
A big No ! No!
After about 15mins it becomes a dry dusty haze to remove. It filled my MF towel with it and required a HELLUVA lot of elbow grease. Was very tough to remove. Then after all the removal, I had to break out my california duster as dust particles were everywhere.. What a pain !
I then decided to employ the "wax on wipe off" method (WOWO) for the second coat of NXT and it did wonders ! I applied it by hand in smaller sections, waited about 30secs to 1minute and it appeared to "rub in" better and smoother. I did not let it dry to a haze and I noticed it gave greater "pop" So after 2 coats of NXT .. 1 to haze and then 1 with WOWO method.
NXT by hand x 2:
Then I went for a WG topper..
A Big No ! No !
I applied a nice thin coat of WG SG by hand, and within seconds, the WG SG stuck to the NXT like "Glue" A chemical adhesion education did i get! I kid you not ! I had to rub and rub like never before. It was like having to remove residual glue left on from the 80's !!!!
I thought my hands were going to fall off. Similar to the elbow grease of leaving #16 on too long or Klasse SG. My arms almost fell off.
After I finally removed it one section of the hood thankfully, i said no more WG for this process.
I decided to top it with Pinnacle Souveran. Ooooh, this went on easy and removed easy. It gave the paint a much deeper look IMO. WOWO method as well.
NXT topped with Pinnacle Souveran:
So in the end, my recommendations:
Apply NXT , and then remove immediately with the WOWO method.
The longer it sits, the worse it will be to remove.
Do not top with a sealant like WG.
But rather a good carnuba. or Don't top it at all if its a light coloured car.
So in the spirit, of Autopia, I simply wanted to experiment,
My stages:
DACP x 1 (Sonus Orange Pad, speed 4-5)
SSR2.5 x 1 (Sonus Green Pad speed 4-5)
NXT x 2 (by hand)
Pinnacle Souveran x 1 (by hand)
