NXT in Canada

I recently emailed Meguiars about availability in Canada and was told it would soon be available at Canadian Tire.

But as I've heard, Meguiars is somewhat unreliable about the availability of NXT in Canada. I wonder what it'll end up costing?

"Soon" meaning probably next year...wish they would stock more professional items on the shelves also.

Crappy Tire, sad but true...and I bought stuff from there.:(

on a sidenote...I was looking around for a PC7424 in Canada, found it Canadian Tire (not so crappy??? we'll see) online in the clearance section, its saling for $239.99 and free delivery...is this a good price or should I order from Coastal Tools instead?

Coastal, or Summit Tools. You really should get the 7336 or Coastal's 7424 Kit instead of the plain 7424 anyway.

That's their regular price. It did go on sale for $179.99 back in April 2003, so it *might* come up on sale again, who knows. But I also discovered that Home Depot can get the 7424 and 7336, one was priced ~ $204 and one at $214 CDN (can't remember which was which).

However, I still went with Coastal Tools for mine. $119 US at 1.35 exch is ~$160 CDN, they will ship USPS to Canada if you specifically ask (shipping is minimal that way), and it includes the backing plate and extra counterweight.

So much was it all together? Coastal Tool quoted me a price of $187.00 CDN. There is going to be a final tax on top of this that UPS sets which I haven't found out yet. Where did you end up getting your pads? Thanks

bboy850: If you haven't already ordered, MAKE SURE YOU DON'T GET IT SHIPPED UPS!!! They have unreal "brokerage fees" for crossing the boarder. Sometimes the sender isn't aware of this cost, as it doesn't directly affect them. MAKE SURE YOU SPECIFY USPS (regular mail). Doesn't take too much longer, and assuming it isn't lost, much cheaper overall. Definitely check for other than UPS shipping options!!

Just my thoughts.

bboy 850:

My comment on UPS was in general, not specifically for a PC. Anything ordered from the States should be checked for shipping options. Be especially careful if you're ordering on an automated system, as it may have a default UPS shipping instruction. Even a $20.00 item could cost you over $50.00 extra for shipping and brokerage fees.

As to getting lost, I was just referring to the loss of the item. If it's not insured or trackable, you could be out the cost and have not item. Company says it was shipped, postal service doesn't have it, you say you don't have it, it could go to your word vs. theirs. Not that this is likely to happen very often, mind you. It was just a point I brought up.

Be very cautious about using UPS. Any potential saving by shopping south of the border go right out the door after you apply the Brokerage fee's! Go USPS (US Postal Service) if you can.

I found it to be a much lesser headache by buying at CT when it goes on sale every 3 months for about $179.99 or was it $199.99. Ask one of the store hands to look it up in the computer when it's going on sale.

You can also try calling the Delta tool center in Waterloo and see if they have any refurbished units... sometimes they do and can go for about 150 - 175.

Just got off the phone with CT and they have it in stock at the location I called except the person said it won't go on sale probably around July...darn, can't wait that long!

The PC 7424 has not been going on sale every 3 months like most common items in the store. I already stated above that the last time it went on sale was April 2003, according to their computer records (assuming all CT stores across Canada are on the same schedule).

Have you been to your local Canadian Tire recently?

There is a noticable LACK of Meguiars products for some reason.

Part Source is a good bet and they now carry INVISIBLE GLASS!!!!:bounce

Ditto. Our Crappy Tire in Richmond (one of the biggest I went) doesn't even have Gold Class anymore :o, well at least they didn't have it last time I went there. Do you think I'll have luck if I ask the counter??

Acutally I went to my local CT and they were pretty stocked with Meguiars products, though not the products I needed...like NXT, DACP, #82...oh well

You can get or at least order DACP and 82 through the Paint & Body Suppliers that carry Meguiar's products. I bought 32oz of DACP recently here. As noted earlier in this thread CT will not carry NXT this year.
