I did this BMW a while back, but it's one of my favorites that I always show to people when they say that a PC can't remove swirls:

The people had been up in the snow and it was covered with dirt and salt...then they ran it through a couple of gas station car washes.

Products:

PB SSR3 w/Meg's cutting pad - speed - 4

DACP CMA Orange pad - speed 4.5 -5

FP finishing pad - I like to start off at about 4.5 with FP and finish with 3.5, I feel it by slowing it down after the polish breaks down leaves a better finish.

NXT finishing pad speed 2

Zaino tire gloss on tire and external trim

P21S wheel gel on wheels

303 fabric protectant on conv. top

Before:

Damn! I hope you got paid big for all that work. I have an entry in this month too, but I might just have to vote for you! LOL!

Thanks everyone!:)

The swirls/scratches from the carwash were pretty severe, I wasn't sure if the PC would be able to remove as much as it did when I first saw it. SSR3 and DACP worked wonders though, getting out about 95% of them and leaving very little hazing (you can see a little bit of hazing in the close up shot) - FP cleaned up the hazing and left a nice gloss.

Thanks again guys I really appreciate it :xyxthumbs

I really like the color on that BMW! So if my understanding is correct, you used NXT as your LSP with nothing on top?

It's a great color, one of my favorites.

Yes...NXT by itself looked really good, it gave a nice combo of wetness and depth to this color, I felt no need to top it.

Wow!!!!! Those swirls were really bad! So close together....is that how BMW paint swirls or is it just the car wash that did it...

No, that was just from the carwashes:eek:

They were pretty nasty, if you look at the during pic you can see how it gave the paint a "green" hue

Does the SSR3 with a cutting pad leave behind some pretty serious marring that requires something as strong as DACP to remove it? Or did you need DACP for cleaning purposes anyway?

wow.... damn what a transformation... love the car and color as well... bmws and orient blue :shocked does anyone know the deadline for submitting a detail into the contest? wait till u see my entry..

Yes, the SSR3 and cutting pad left marring that needed to be removed with something like DACP...I probably could have used something like SSR2 to remove the hazing, but I need DACP on the hood and roof (not as badly swirled as the side, SSR3 was not needed) so I just went over the entire vehicle with it.

I like DACP because when worked in correctly it leaves very little hazing/marring. I then followed it with a finishing polish to make it really pop.

Great job...it is hard to believe a car that new can get in such bad shape.

It's a shame how much people spend on a car just to neglect it and let it oxidize and look like crap all the time.

The owners weren't too happy the way it looked either.

What had happened was they were up in the mountains on vacation and it was snowing, seeing how dirty the car was with all the snow and salt they decided to take it through a couple of gas station car washes.:nono They didn't relize the damage they had done until they got back home. :scared :shocked

Needless to say they know better now:xyxthumbs

How much of the clear do you think you had to remove to get those swirls out? We're the scratches deep enough to feel with your fingernail?

It was bad, but not enough to compromise the clear.

None of them were deep enough to feel with a fingernail.
