Not happy with my Optimum Poliseal...

Hello everyone. So, I was so excited to try Optimum Poliseal. I have used the product on a friend's BMW and it seemed to look great...If I ever get pics of this car, I'll certainly post them up as I think the car came out looking gorgeous. Nevertheless, my car's last wax was probably in December...it was my third layer of Collinite 476S wax at the time. The car was with my Dad for a while, meaning inproper cleaning and so forth. Nevertheless, on Easter, I decided to wash the car with ONR, and then I decided to simply hit the paint with Poli-seal, meaning no clay barring (because I was simply too busy to do the full effort). I applied the product with a PC and blue edge 2000 pad. No problems and I was very happy with the results as it seemed to have cut the clearcoat nicely for super-fine swirl removal. Nevertheless, it rained recently in the area multiple times...I even drove in heavy rain on the highway. First of all, the rain doesn't seem to sling off the windshield like aio. It slings off, but not to the same effect as aio. I've had bonding issues with the windshield and all sorts of products, so this isn't the big issue. More importantly, the product does not seem to bead well at all. It seems that I have no more protection on the vehicle! I will post detailed pics and water beading pictures soon, but my question is, could it be that since I did not clay bar the vehicle, that the Poli-seal is having some bonding issues with the paint?

I have not use poli-seal just by its self. I believe it does not bead but instead should sheet the water.

i would say that the sealant left behind by poliseal is not the greatest...it is an aio but a very weak lsp product...i still top aio products like poliseal and pws with a wax...its just nice i dont have to right away...

Here were some after shots of JUST Optimum Poli Seal (aio on wheels)...

im not really feeling poli-seal either. it doesnt seem to last when it rains or just doesnt last at all. i dont beleive it got rid of the swirls my friend, it just hid it. i did a few cars for dealerships which they dont pay me enough nor care much for swirls so i tried quick passes with a pc using poli-seal to hide them. it did a great job but after 2 days of raining, the swirls came back and it seems to me like the sealant is all gone.. doesnt feel like there is anything left on the paint as it feels not slick.

Thanks for the comments...it certainly creates a nice shine and stuff, but I am worried that the product has not bonded properly or the product simply doesn't bead. Has anyone else had these issues?

Dang......I hope it's not a waste of $25. I'll be getting mine shortly, but this will go on top of my Zaino and my Z-CS to see if I get a different more wet look on my car. If Opti-Seal has issues as far as durability, then I'll just use it on my wheels.

But reading on these forums, little or less beading is not really a sign of wear and tear of an LSP. Maybe you should add another coat. I live in FL and it's been dry and it smells like smoke because of the GA forest fires. I'm sure when it's summer time it will rain everysingle day and I'll be able to see if my Opti-Seal is up to par with my Zaino. Like I said, if I'm not satisfied, I'll simply use them on my wheels and windows. Either way, from the pics that were posted on this site, opti-seal looks GREAT!

I thought that Poli-seal, due to its polishing characteristics, cannot be layered?

I'm not too familiar with the Optimim products. Opti-Seal will be the first line of product from Opt I'll be using on my car. I just want to compare from scratch between OS and CS on my hood.

I was blown away using Z-CS, but I hope I get that feeling again when I use OS. I'm sure I will. I'm sure it will be the same, but the main reason why I'm getting OS is to see if there's more of a wet look than Z-CS.

No, they are not anything like each other, other than spray on and walk away. One is watery and one is thick. One adds maybe a little shininess to what is underneath, and one has a strong wet look all on its own. I have tried both and both have their place in peoples arsenals. But for an LSP, I dont see a comparison.

Oh I see. I'm more in the wet look. If I like OS looks, then I hope I can top it off on top of CS. It's worth giving it a shot.

That would seem like a waste. Why would you want to do that? A little overkill I believe. Why change the appearance

Well... I'm trying it on my hood. Since it's no effort to apply, I'll just try it. It should take me like 2 min to do the hood. I would consider over kill by applying too much product. Just trying to experiement a little. Naw mean?
