Not Happy With Cyclo?

I use a cyclo and dewalt, and the dewalt pretty much hangs on my wall 6 days out of 7. I can't say much about the other options but I absolutely love my cyclo. I even ordered a second one this week to improve our shops output and they are extremely easy to learn.

As for maneuvering around tight spots, I'll have to agree it is difficult at times (especially beneath side mirrors). However, even one of my employees commented on how fast I am with the cyclo, I'll even use it one-handed from time to time.

For application of use, I go between removal of micro-marring and oxidation removal with wool pads to applying polish, wax, and sealant with a soft foam pad.

I'd like to pick up a PC for myself and build a proper collection, but at the moment I'm very happy with my set-up. Oh, and its not much louder than my vacuum and I'm also a professional audio guy and I'm not worried about my hearing from it.

Hope this helps, just find what you personally like and stick with it.

Probably a better title for this thread would be "Happy with Cyclo?" since most of those who have used it like it (at least based on various posts on this board). The negative makes it sound a bit presumptive. But I know that's nit-picky..

He chimed in because he had an opinion. Seems simple huh? :hmph:

It makes more sense (at least to me) for the OP to be answered by those who have experience with the machine.

So Diesel, what did you decide?

Heh heh, same here...I even called around until I found a local autopaint/body place that had one in stock. I'm resisting the temptation so far.

What do you wanna bet that one of us is gonna buy one of David's new machines :o

Sneek- Oh man, he *loves* it, and doesn't even feel the need to keep other types of rotaries around the way I do. If you don't value the trigger that the others have, the Metabo is very, very nice. But there have been some reports of them overheating when used for extended periods at very slow speeds, something that doesn't happen with the Makita.

I've been looking for a "middle ground" solution between the PC and rotary as well. Finally decided to order the Dynabrade RO adapter for $110.95 (free shipping) from the The Tool Warehouse.

If you get a chance, post back about how you like it.

At First I really liked my cyclo, the handle on the front is nice, but I find that I'm picking up the PC more because it seems like I am overall more efficient with it.

I plan on placing my Cyclo up for sale, if anyone is interested shoot me a PM.

Nica- If you get a chance, let us know how you like the Cyclo. Given your experience with the metabo and the PC I'd find your take intersting.

Oh, and Welcome to Autopia!

So after using the Cyclo a few times I feel that now I can give some good feed back on it. The Cyclo is really nice, I really enjoy it because ti does not vibrate to much. Hands feel good when done with the Cyclo. I did a few vehicles with the Cyclo but I keep switching to my Metabo. I use the Cyclo on "special" vehicles, the reason being is because I have some friends that don't want a rotary near there vehicles and that is because they are extremely high end vehicles and my friends are super anal about it hahaha just like me. I did a Mercedes convertible earlier and I used both, one pass with the Metabo and the final pass with the Cyclo and the Cyclo is really good as a final pass or used with Menzerna FPII just wicked results with the Cyclo and Menzerna. As far as correction power, it's like the PC and it has limits. The weight of the Cyclo is actually really good, majority of the time the weight of Cyclo is the only weight required.

Overall the Cyclo is a good tool but like I said I keep going to my Metabo, I wouldn't say I'm faster with the Metabo for some reason I just enjoy my Metabo more then the Cyclo :woot2:

I thought that the size of the Cyclo would bother me but it didn’t bother me at all, just need to adjust to the size and off you go.

Well just my feed back, hope it helps.

Thank you for the welcome, this place is busy :bigups

Nica- Thanks for posting that. I guess it's not surprising that, overall, you prefer your Metabo, but I'm glad you find the Cyclo good for certain applications.

Yeah, the rotary-then-Cyclo combo works very well.
