The GTR weighs way too much for its size and purpose. I can understand why a Veyron weighs 2 tons but there is no reason way a ultrahigh performance Datsun should weigh nearly the same unless its attempting to do 240+ mph.
As far as technology does, the pushrod LSx are IMO some of the most advanced road engines in the world. They're comparatively tiny and weigh less compared to other "more advanced" engines offering similar power outputs.
GM has gotten it right with this engine like no other manufacturer. Not only is it reliable, gets great gas mileage, its also extremely responsive to power upgrades...
