John, I don't think that is the case with the DW443. I was thinking about picking one up at one time and remember reading that the BP on that unit is held on with 4 screws. This is an orbital, not a rotary, and if you read the following thread post #15 mentions the 4 screws that attach the BP:JohnZ3MC said:Not so, all the common polishers, your DW, the Hitachi, the Makita, the rotary PC, the Metabo and the Fein, all have the very same 5/8 inch threaded shaft so they all take aftermarket rotary backing plates........
