Newb... PC/product plan. Comments?

Hi all,
I finally got a PC after years of hand induced swirl marks due to a variety of bad habits on my part.

Anyway, it's new car time for both myself and the wife this year, and I'd like to do things right from the start.

Upon taking delivery, I'm planning the following regimen:

1)Clay
2)Pinnacle finishing polish
3)Zaino Z2 w/ZFX (I've used Zaino previously and like that it lasts a few months longer than carnuba).

Since the car will be new, I don't particularly want to screw up, so I figured I'd run this by everyone. I would imagine I'll apply the finishing polish with a white polishing pad, and the Z2 with a gray finishing pad (?).

The above is basically assuming the car won't have any minor swirls, etc. If it does, would it be best to see if they come out with the finishing polish? If not, what would be the best way to go?

Thanks for the help. I'm overwhelmed with product choice/descriptions... glaze/polish/compound/wax/sealant... it all starts to get a little hazy (forgive the pun).

Cheers,
-Grant

WELCOME TO DC:) Looks like you have a plan just dont forget the most important thing.......... shampoo and good clean wash mitts.. the rest as you said clay then final polish should be fine and followed your choice of topping.
that is where opinions will flow but it seems you are on your way.. goodluck

It is a plan but I would do something just a little bit different. I am wondering how well the Z2 will bond with the Pinnacle product. They have oils that may mitigate Z2 durabilty.
Direct from the pinnacle information of Auto geek:

"For automotive paint, moisturizers come in the form of oils that lubricate and saturate the paint for deep, vibrant color and shimmer. The oils allow the diminishing abrasives in AFP to float just above the paint where they polish and brighten the surface. AFP can be applied by hand or with a dual action orbital polisher."

"Pinnacle Advanced Finishing Polish is completely safe for clear coat paint finishes. The diminishing abrasive technology, combined with the lubricant-rich lotion, guarantees a safe, swirl-free process. The results will speak for themselves"

If you have had good luck with this process go right ahead. but it is not something that I would do. so this informatiion is FWIW.

If it were me I would purchase KAIO or ZPC Fusion to use as a surface cleaner prior to applying Z2. have used both with stellar results. The nice thing With ZPC is the fact that the product works hand in glove with Z2 and it also is a very good swirl remover using the appropriate pad and proper speed on a PC or rotary.
