New, to me, Porsche

I wouldn't mind getting an older car to Rice out. I just want something to tinker around with and not have to worry too much about messing something up and not having anything to drive to work. Eventualy fixing it up to be a Rice Rocket. You know, Make it go fast, Sound like a buzz bomb, 6" tailpipe, NOS, body kit, lots of stickers :P

I want something that has a lot of stuff available to help customize it. What would be a good ricer to get?

I was thinking about getting a supra but even the older ones sell for a lot. What would be another good one to get?

I wouldn't mind getting a supra but the ones I've seen have been around 20k.

I don't wanna spend that much money on a car i'm pretty much going to rebuild...

A friend of mine just bought one and I was looking into all the stuff that is out there for them. There are Superchargers and Turbochargers galore. Plus, it is a convertable.

The Civic would be the cheapest route. The only thing is that the first modification that a Civic owner wants to do is swap out the engine for an Integra GSR engine. Therefore, I would suggest getting like a 94 GSR and working with that. The GSR motor has more HP potential than even the Type R engine has. You can ask any teg owner that. If you want a real sleeper then get the GSR sedan and do that up. There is nothing finer looking in the Honda world than a generation 3 Ingegra sedan IMO. I was really happy with my Mustang untill I detailed a GSR sedan. I sold my Mustang and bought my GSR within 3 months. :)

eclipses are nice, cause you can get one with a turbo, and just go from there. but if you get an eclipse get either the gs-x or the gs-t. (those have the turbo's)

with the integra you could always do a a conversion, maybe to the honda integra from japan?

or how about a 240sx??? and then you can drop the silvia motor in. :D . if i had a choice to pick a nice looking older car to do up, and it had to be an import, it would be the 240. i think they look sweet.

<strong class='bbc'>I don't really like the front end on an integra. Something about it...

What about an eclipse? [/b]</blockquote>
Really? The front end was what attracted me to it in the first place. I've seen some really nice Integras with the JDM conversion in front but they look just like a 1990 Honda Accord to me.

this is a link that doesn't seem to want to be a picture. It is the JDM type R sedan.

Can you see the "Accord-ish" look it has?

:)

I'd never go with an eclipse. The reason for that isn't because of what is under the hood. The DSM engines are crazy fast. The reason I wouldn't touch one is because you can't see squat from the inside. They are really poorly designed on the inside. I don't even like detailing them. Driving is a huge pain because they are nothing but one huge blindspot. That is just my opinion of them. They are incredibly fast in a race though. I guess when all you want to do is go straight as fast as you can then visibility out the sides and back aren't as important, eh?

i didn't know it was hard to see stuff, but i guess now that i think of it, does seem to be a shape not for being able to see well.

how about a celica or mr2??

Guys you only live once. Just get the Supra. Very nice car to drive. And the looks, whoa! Lets not forget about the looks. Laters

ermm... I've gotta think about the supra. It'll cost a lot to buy and my insurance will probably rocket too.

I may go ask a friend to let me drive his eclipse. I'd like to see about those blindspots.

The last eclipse I drove was a newer model. The windshield is at such an angle you have about 5 inches of vertical visibility out of the front of the car. ...ok, well, maybe not 5 inches but pretty darn close. I was so paranoid that I was going to change lanes and smash into someone because you couldn't check your blind spots unless you lean all the way around the drivers seat and check that way. It is just really bad. Just go to a Mitsubishi and sit in one and you will agree.

The new Celicas aren't the best. They have power but they are kind of scary looking. The old ones weren't so hot either. (Boy, ain't I just the positive one?) If you are going to modify a car then you should start with the best base that you can. If that is the case then you can't really get much better than a Honda. Take a GSR motor and throw it in a Civic and you are good to go. :) They make more aftermarket parts for Hondas than any other car maker. An intake for my car that costs 30 bucks will cost you 70 bucks on a Ford. Just look at the parts on ebay. Domestics are definatly not the way to go. Hondas are like Lego cars. :) Supras are good too but only if you get the super cool Turbo versions. <drool>

you know what hyundai stands for don't you?

Hey

You

Understand

Nothing is

Driveable

And

Inexpensive

:D

It also stands for Hamster, Y U no Dai? (get it? HAHAHAHAHA)

Hey, don't laugh at Hyundais! :D

Actually, they are really improving. They didn't do too bad with their Tiburon rally car (300 hp in stock engine) and won a few stages I believe.

And when used as boring transportation to A-to-B, they are pretty good too...

There is a Tiburon in my appartment complex that has the coolest paint. It is sort of a pearl white but when you look at the hood at an angle you can see blues and greens. Really cool. Kind of like spilled gas in a puddle of water. I wonder if that is a custom job or a factory color?

The ones that had headlights sort of like the Integra were cool. They definatly looked like their name implies. "Shark"
