New, to me, Porsche

A good friend of mine test drove a Tiburon two weeks ago. I'm not a fan of these cars at all, but they actually have a V-6 in them. At least that's what the laymen salesman claimed. Laters

I had a 99 Eclipse GS-T. It was fast and a lot of fun. My biggest problem was the poor quality. It suffered from rattles, wind noices (more like whistles). The engine and turbo were fine though. I also was able to see out fine, visibility was as good as my Audi.

I called my friend who has an eclipse and he said he has no problem with visibility. He saies there is almost no blind spots

They still make the eclipse? right?

Yea, the Tiburon has a 181 hp 2.7L V6 linked to a 6-speed manual gearbox. To tell you the truth, I'm quite impressed with the car. The aluminum pedals, 360-watt Infinity sound system, and 17" inch wheels are cool. Hyundai and cool?

Things have changed I guess...

that looks a lot better than the one out right now. the ones out now, look horrible to me. it looks as if the top half of the car is wider than the bottom half.

91-95 Mr2 Turbo, rear engine, RWD, 50/50 balanced, 0-60 in 6.2 seconds in stock form. Ive always wanted one of these cars, but cant find one non abused.:nixweiss :nixweiss

How about an RX-7? Or if your really want to have some fun pick up a Miata and drop in a Ford 5.0 302 out of a mustang! Parts are very cheap and it makes a ton of power. There use to be a company that did the whole conversion and than bolted on a supercharger...

And one with which I am familiar... About 2.5 years ago I needed a replacement for my 1987 16valve GTI. Looked for an MR2, tough to find for a resonable price. Drove some civics- cool but front wheel drive. Supra was too spendy and so were the 3rd gen RX7's. Ended up buying an all-wheel-drive Talon. A 94, last of the first generation body style.

That car was fast- after about $800 worth of stuff it had 300hp. Unfortunately, it was also heavy (3400#!) and not built too well. At stock power levels they're pretty trustworth, but ask anyone who's got one that's been modded how many transmissions they've been through. And heavy... felt it every time I turned the wheel. After a year I was sick of it and it's 20mpg thirst for premium and bought a 94 miata.

Now a miata is about the polar opposite of an all wheel drive turbo Talon. Light, rear wheel drive, 110hp, droptop. Added a turbocharger, aftermarket ecu, big clutch, rollbar, and exhaust: 260hp at the wheels, 0-60 in the low 5's, and best of all, <em class='bbc'> nobody expects it![/i] I love it, an absolute rocketship with killer reliablity and it's easy to work on yourself. Perfect!

I don't know why the Tiburon isn' more powerful than it is. I have a 1.8 L 4 cylinder and I've got 170 HP. Why is a car that has 2 more cylinders and more engine only 11 HP stronger? Just curious.

why not get one of these?

If your looking for something cheap, a civic with an engine swap would probably be the easiest way to go for performance and "ricability"

Or you could go with a 89-93 240sx. Near 50/50 weight dist and RWD. Awesome handling. A reasonably clean one will run about 3 grand. Swap in the Sr20det from the Silvia for around 2500-3000 if you do it yourself. 205 hp for the Red top verson and a HUGE aftermarket. Pretty much a direct swap. :xyxthumbs

I have had a 1986 Porsche 911 (black w/ black interior) for 14 years and 120,000 miles and it's time to upgrade. I have a rust problem in three or four places and it was either spend lots of money to restore or move on.

I looked at other colors but always came back to black.

I pick my "new" car up on Saturday. Here are a few photos from the seller.
