4.5 amps is a small but nice increase. 800 extra OPM isn't going to do much. Now, forced rotation would be a nice addition.

Looks interesting...doesnt seem to be a huge upgrade in power, but with some 4" pads it will set up as a nice corrective machine i would imagine

It appears they might have been considering its use as a *polisher* whereas its predecessor was really an "adapted" sander. A few little changes might go a long way.

What makes it more of a polisher now? 800 opms and a half an amp? It really doesn't seem like that much of an upgrade to me, more like a pc 7424.5
I posted this on AG but ill say it again. Depending on the price, if I was in the market for a pc I might end up sticking with the 7424.
If the price difference is greater than like $30-40 than I don't think the small changes are really worth all that much more. Might as well spend even a little more and just get the flex
The 7424 can be had for 100-120 give or take and is already proven effective and reliable.
Ofcourse, if this is going to completely replace the 7424 and will be the same price or around the same price than I find it a good deal.

Eh...I've always found the [older model PCs] to be utterly marginal with anything larger than a 4" pad, so maybe I'm just optimistic that the new one will be competitive with the UDM and the polishers from Meguiar's and Griot's. At least they're not just resting on their laurels.

It seems to be inline with the g110's specs, but why settle for the "same"?
If this is PCs answer to the competition it wasnt a good push imo.
Its barely stronger than the g110, and the g110 sells for pretty cheap already.
With the g110 to its left and the flex to its right, porter cable kind of dropped the ball on this one.
Than again all im doing is speculating and as we all know, speculation in this business is worth nothing until you actually use the product. So i guess im just rambling

Just a thought on pad size: I bet the ability or inability of using a 6.5 or 5.5 depends a lot on what you are trying to do and what product you are using.
I have been arm wrestling a finish on my car as of late and you really start to notice product differences like this.
For instance the new Meg. Ultimate compound has a heavy oil base and really takes some mojo to work. I love the product but a 4 inch foam pad is a better choice by hand than a larger pad for sure.
On the other hand the new swirl-x is a light base product and "works" much easier.
On the other hand NXT 2.0 can be a little gooey at first (especially when you have to much product) and can be a bit hard to work at first.

Yeah, I bet we here at Autopia could give a manufacturer an earful of what they oughta put into a new polisher, but well... heh heh, we're not running Porter Cable :grinno:

), when Lynn cut through the Benz clear at the St. Louis G-T-G with a PC, it was with a Meg's 7006 pad! I sure wouldn't have expected that but I bet nobody *else* expected it either!
Yeah, no doubt about it. Doing glazes/LSPs via PC/big pad can work fine.
You *might've* had too much NXT on there, the one time I used that stuff I applied it with a 6" (Griot's red waxing) pad via PC and it went well.

Is the OPM wheel dial still at the base near the power cable? If so, this is a major f*ck up by PC that shouldn't have ever happened in the first place. This is my one and only complaint, but it's a big one.
