New ONR?

I'm not a big ONR user, but I'm sure sorry to hear the new version has a cherry scent...yuck :(

Accumulator, Im only going to ask you this once: Get out of my head!

I swear you predict what Im going to think, then type it up here :p

As much as I wanted to try the original stuff...I'm glad that my first time trying it will be the new stuff. Even better! I've never used anything like this before, and for a daily driver it seems 'odd' for sure to someone that hasn't used it before especially considering how dirty a daily driver can get in little time...but I think based on the several great threads I've read and amazing pictures I've seen it's safe to say I would have really enjoyed the experience and the product, especially considering I don't have a hose most of the time! Now there's no doubt in my mind I'll be disappointed if somehow they've improved upon the product. I know the original has been out for quite some time now. I wasn't hesitant to try it at all, I was just waiting until I had 'extra' money fall into my lap to buy some. Now I feel like I want to go out of my way to find that 'extra' money to try it out! HAHA. I'll have to go pull a few leaves off my neighbor's money tree pretty soon.

Heh heh, that must be worrisome, having an [individual] like me on your wavelength :chuckle:

The new ONR says NOTHING about the Quick Detail strength on the bottle like the old one did.

The old bottle listed everything it was capable of on the right side of the gallon jug, and the new one left out QD???

Does this mean it is no longer recommended that you use it at QD strength??

Thanks,

Actually, I think it is probably because Optimum has a QD now and would prefer you use it. :lol

Still has clay lube dilution.

According to them the new solution is supposed to be slicker and shinier so I can not see any reason why you can't continue useing it for a Quick Detail product. The only thing is what you said scottwax is that they want you to buy their QD since it is more money then using ONR as a QD???

What do you guys think?

Everyone raves about how OID and FK425 blow ONR QD away so I'd assume they just removed it like Scott said...to put their best foot forward. If you are asking if it "can" be used as a QD, then the answer is yes. Will it look like the dedicated QD's? IDK, but i doubt it. Remember, ONR is essentially a fantastic rinse-less wash, the other uses are merely secondary.

agreed. although i havent used ONR v2 yet, the first version gets blown away by fk425(my fave) as a QD. ive also liked OID,hydro, and Z6 out of all the qd's i tried. But in my opinion only fk425 and OID are cost effective and good enough to be worth buying if you have ONR.

Honestly, I find OCW easier to use, slicker, better looking, and at least as durable as OS.

Looking forwards to using the new ONR. I'm glad to hear they got rid of the "Pine-Sol" scent in favor of something more pleasant.

Yeah, the current version REEKS. The first version didn't seem nearly as bad, but I'm looking forward to anything that doesn't smell like toilet cleaner. I hope Dr G. is thinking about fixing the smell of OLC too.

I QD my car almost every day to get the dust and light grim off thats why I like to use ONR since it is so much cheaper then buying a dedicated QD for 10 bucks a bottle.

Even if it does not look as shiny as a "real" QD that does not bother me since I will throw a quick coat of sealnt or nuba every few weeks, and the shine does not out weight the cost. Just IMO.

Just used the new version today for the first time. Ease of use is exactly the same. It is definitely slicker and seems to glide across the surface very well. I also noticed that it cleans better. Seems to break up the dirt with less effort/passes. Gloss is improved to almost QD appearance. I really don't like the mulberry scent though. It's really bad in the gallon and not so bad when mixed, but I really liked the old smell...just smelled clean.

I am VERY disappointed that they changed the smell. I agree with you completely, I LOVE the smell of the older version. One of my favorite smelling detailing products. Why mess with it?

Go back to the threads when the old scent was first introduced. A lot of people didn't like it, nor did they like the original unscented version. I tested a bubble gum scented on that I really liked but since OID has the same scent, mulberry was used to prevent confusion.

What everyone has to remember is that adding a scent can change the characteristics of the product and render it less effective. Unfortunately, Dr. G. hasn't found too many scents that he can add to ONR without affecting how it works.

Well I hoped this new formula is as good as people say. I ordered a gallon last night but I still have half a bottle of the "old" formula. I might give the bottle to my neighbor who is into detailing.

Mullberry? I thought it was kind of grape'ish? I didnt care for the previous smell. Was a touch on the "chemical" side.....I do prefer to new versions scent better, although thats straight from the bottles without any bucket dilution.

When I first purchased ONR2, I strongly disliked the Pine-Sol-like scent. Then I mixed it in water, and the smell grew on me. Now I love ONR2 the scent whether it's in a mixture or if it's straight out of the bottle.

Don't you love it when the customer walks by while you're ONR2-ing and says "Wow! What are you doing? It smells great!"

I know it's happened before with some of you :D.

Will have to see what ONR3 smells like in its two forms (out of the bottle vs mixed in a 5 gallon bucket), compared to the all mighty tried & true :up.

ONR1 smells like "clean" to me! I only have positive reactions to it. I personally don't understand how anyone wouldn't like the smell, but different strokes and all that stuff...

What was the scent of ONR v1? To me ONR v2 has that Mr. clean type of scent. I wont be able to get the new ONR v3 anytime soon and I still have a lot of ONR v2 but the mulberry scent will be a nice change.
