Have a huge Kroger a block from me and know the manager.
Went over last night and talked to him, they do not have them in Cincy stores and this is their HQ's.
Further west, Dillion's chain is actually Kroger owned.
He checked the computer and found that it is still a test market for the towels.
As you are discovering, color makes no difference, but I stated that several weeks ago. There are 5 manufacturering mills in the world that produce this fabric, and are in China and South Korea.
The fabric technology actually started out years ago and was marketed in clothing, Ultra Suede.
They can make the fibers as long as they wish, (short, regular, plush, extra plush) change the percentages of the polydiamide vs the polyester (80/20, 75/25, 70/30, but go below that and the absorbancy drops).
Lot's of new things going on in the fabric world.
Anyone heard of "Nano-Cloth" for pants, shirts etc?
Wild stuff, totally wrinkle free and staining free!
According to the information released it rejects almost anything, that is not caustic, from staining it.
A pair of slacks is going to run now around $60 a pair and several brands are making their way to the market now.
Watch, in a year or two, these will be available for $25 to $30 a pair. Same with the shirts.
