I am loving the 5.0 as well. They're a great all around drive. @01GreyStangGT - what year is that GT California Special that you got?
David Fermani said:Anyone have any acid rain etching on the horizontal panels?
WAS said:Nope, but then again I live in an area with extremely little air pollution, so I'm not the best example.
David Fermani said:It usually starts way before they get delivered. If you visit the area where they get assembled you'd understand why. The air is so thick with toxins you can cut it with a knife. I did warranty paint work for 6 Ford dealers, owned about 30 Mustangs, and have seen 100's and can count on 1 hand the ones that didn't have some kind of environmental damage. Not saying that there aren't out defect free ones out there, but I find it pretty pathetic that so many are prone to this condition.
David Fermani said:When you say "it" you are referring to what year/color Mustang?
01GreyStangGT said:It's a 2011. I got it 3 weeks ago. I special ordered it. The new Mustangs are a great package. Motor Trend is comparing the 5.0's to the BMW M3.
WAS said:2005 silver convertible
David Fermani said:Not saying your car does/doesn't have it, but silver (and white) are probably the most forgiving and concealing color for acid rain. I had a very difficult time detecting it on my 03 Cobra (silver). Unfortunately it usually sticks out like a sore thumb on anthing darker.
yakky said:Nice cars, good value, but competition to the M3, hardly.
And yet, at the test track, the 5.0 equals or betters the M3 in every performance category we measure. Both hit 60 mph in 4.4 seconds, but the Mustang is faster to the quarter mile by a tenth of a second and 0.7 mph-12.7 seconds at 111.6 mph. It also stops two feet shorter from 60 mph-a tie as far as we're concerned-and the GT really shatters the M myth on the skidpad. America's original ponycar manages to outgrip one of Germany's most iconic sports cars to the tune 0.2 second through our figure eight and by 0.01 g in lateral acceleration.
WAS said:I think both vehicles are amazing machines. That said, the Mustang certainly has come a very long way from where it was 10 years ago, where if you tried comparing the M3 to the Mustang, you'd be looked at funny.
