New Black car detail

As much as I like Z-2, I’ve actually found a product that works just like it but is superior in several ways. It’s called Z-2! Hard for me to believe, but Sal has made a few slight modifications of Z-2 to create a new and improved formulation of it. After using it a few times, I would say that I noticed an improvement in the level of glossiness as well as the slickness & smoothness of the surface. The product also seemed easier to use.

I’m really glad a few other forum members noticed this as well, especially considering the fact that Sal didn’t really announce anything about his new and improved Z-2 publicly. After noticing the improvements, I confirmed with Sal that the Z-2 I had was indeed a new and improved formulation. I’m really impressed that Sal was actually able to improve upon an already excellent product. :bow

That's the way I describe the new Z2. I applied 3 coats of the enhanced Z2 with ZFX a couple weeks ago and was blown away. It's true the shine factor has been boosted a couple notches. Sort of felt like Emeril when it was all over and I got to see the results in the sun. Felt like saying BAM!! after kicking it up! :D I believe Sal found out about the improvement while working on ZFX and added the special touch to Z2 for greater gloss and durability. It is amazing that Z2 could shine more than it already does, but Sal is continually working on improving his products and coming up with even better ones. Sal is working on other great products that will compliment the Zaino line in the near future. Keep a watch, great things are in the works at ZainoBros!!

So are you saying it would be worth to lose the 3/4 full bottle of Z2 I have had since Sept and buy the new?

When did he make the change?

What version are we on Z2.1?

Sal states that the new Z2 has been out since Jan and this month he states a new and improved Z5 is on the way.Call or e-mail your distributor and ask when he brought his last shipment.

GMN,

Nah, don't trash your current bottle, just use it more quickly. :D

BTW, I think we're at version Z2.5 or Z2.6....LOL!

Most of the slight changes go unannounced to the public, this version has already been out a few months...

Since I just got my Zaino products it states on the back of the bottle "New Molecular Chemistry formula give Zaino Bros'Z2 show carpolish the wettest-looking slickest, clearest and longest-lasting finish protection in the industry."

Does everyone else's bottle start the same way?

But I noticed a difference too....more gloss and slickness......

Sal did confirm that Z2 has been improved and is currently shipping. He has done things like this in the past too, with no public announcement. He improved / changed Z1, and I believe improved Z6 a few years ago. For you old time zainoers, you will remember the old Z1 was white / not brownish, and the old Z6 was green.

With Black Spiroh you probably could skip the Z2 but it is cheaper once you have those pesky slight swirls filled in and hidden.

Ah heck be a Lab Rat and experiement for us and post your opinions!:D

Some forum members report a slight darkening or deepening effect from using Z-5. I think this can be attributed to the filling agents which do not have the high optical properties of Z-2. Also, as Z-5 fills in your swirls, you'll get less light being refracted off the swirls, which can also have a deepening effect.

With 25+ coats I have, I'm at the stage that additional coats does not make much difference, so I can't see how the improved Z-2 can improve the level of glossiness. **Curious. Curious..** Ok I've sent in my order. I've always wanted to try Z-16 (tire) anyway so now is the time. :D

Thanks for the info guys. Any time you notice improvement to Z-5, PLS TELL US! I'll be sending another order then.. Zaino is like cigarette addiction. Can't get enough of it :D

If you have ordered Zaino in the last few months you have the new formula. Sal has been slipping it in for a while. It keeps getting better!

Just got the improved Z2 this week and tried it out just right now. As expected, I have quite a few coats on already so I can't really tell whether glossiness has been improved, but I highly doubt it. It's late night now so guess I'll take a good look at it tomorrow. Now about slickness, strangely I seem to lose a bit of slickness and feels more toward "smoothness". Sort of like the feeling you get when you run the towel over a mirror. Z6 brought back the usual slickness feeling though. I dunno. About easier to use. Hmmmm I don't think so either! Just the same as my good'ol Z2. LOL. Sorry guys. Wish I can be more posititve about this.

One thing I notice different is for some reason, I got 2 full coats out of 1/2 oz. I normally mix half oz Z2/5 with 2 drops ZFX and will always get 1 & half coat, but this time I got 2. Oh well, at least I'm happy to report that I'm now officialy at coat#30.

Puter, quit Zaino and smoke more?? GOTCHA!

Hi William420,

Why do you mix a 50/50 Z2/Z5? Do you get a better coverage of the surface marring or a increase in Z5 glossiness. I found by using each separately that I max out the properties of the individual polishes. Please explain to me (us) the advantages of this combination.

I am always looking for new autopian tricks. :D

blkZ28, sorry my previous post wasn't very clear. I do use each separately. What I meant was I mix 1/2oz of Z2 with ZFX, <strong class='bbc'>OR[/b] I mix 1/2oz of Z5 with ZFX.

You are right mixing 50/50 of Z2/Z5 is not so feasible.

Welp, couple more hours until sunrise. Hope to notice some good shine! :D

Please let us know what you think after you re-evaluate the new Z2 this morning. I have been hedging about getting some but I still have 1/2 of each to use. If the new Z2 and Z5 are measurably better all previous stock becomes worthless. I am so completely amazed by the gloss of the old Z2/5 that it is difficult to comprehend a better shine.:nixweiss

Also very nice finish on the other post.. Great Job!
