New Black car detail

Is the Z-5 new also????? I just got my order last thursday and the Z-5 states it's new on the top of the bottle. So is it new or has it said new on the Z-5 for a while?

Z5 has been improved along with Z2. Both of the newer versions are currently shipping...

FYI, all Z5 bottles say "new" at the top.;)

<strong class='bbc'>Please let us know what you think after you re-evaluate the new Z2 this morning. I have been hedging about getting some but I still have 1/2 of each to use. If the new Z2 and Z5 are measurably better all previous stock becomes worthless. I am so completely amazed by the gloss of the old Z2/5 that it is difficult to comprehend a better shine.:nixweiss
Also very nice finish on the other post.. Great Job! [/b]</blockquote>
blkZ28 - Thanks for the compliment! :)

I looked at my car this morning and really can't say the shine had been improved. but then again, as stated earlier I already have significant # of coats on the car that are layered literally every single weekend, therefore I doubt any improvement on an already excellent product will do anything. I strongly suggest you to use up the 1/2 amount you have remaining first. IMO, the improved Z2 result is not justifiable at all to waste the remaining Z2 you have.

Anyway, here's a qucik shot I took when I pulled my car out the garage this morning. http://www.fototime.com/402B3ACF385F602/orig.jpg

Thanks. Like yourself I have multiple coats (~20 - 25) on a garage queen that is rarely exposed to the sunshine and never any bad weather. The results from this layering is incredible. If the new Z2 and Z5 are better this will give me something to look forward to next winter when I will re-supply. Thanks for the your evaluation of ZFX and new Z2 .:xyxthumbs

That Merc is beautiful. Nice detailing and the wheels and tires are perfect. What tire dressing do you use? It looks like 303.

I e-mailed Sal last week about the new Z5 and he stated that it would be shipping early April. Did he start shipping the new version early?

I believe he is shipping the new version, maybe to selected users for right now.

He'll probably start mass shipping the new version close to April. I'm sure he is trying to deplete the old supply first, before beginning mass shipping the new to everyone. I know Z5 has received the upgrade so it's possible he is shipping some of it out already.

I completely agree w/you that result from layering is incredible! Pls do let us know how you like the new Z2/5 when you re-supply. My car sits outside almost 24 hours a day without garage (except on weekends) and Zaino keeps it looking great, and I'm sure your garage queen looks amazing as well! :up

Tire dressing is Z16. Actually it's the first time I put Z16 on the tires. There was Griots Rubber protectant originally on the tires already, and I didn't bother to clean or strip it clean; therefore I don't know if that will change how Z16 is suppose to look on tires from clean state. Actually I was deciding between Z16 & 303 but decided on Z16 since I was placing an order for the new Z2 so figure might as well order together.

Your car looks great and you must be very dedicated to take care of it each week with another layer. What do you think of the Z16. Is it holding up well? I was thinking of placing another order and try Z5, and might add that to my list. On another note I have only 1 coat so far. Today we got 2" of snow, they salted the roads and more to come tommorow. My question is what should I do to prepare for my next layer. Just wash with Z7 again or are there any other steps to make sure its clean enough for another coat.

Z16 - I just started using it, but it looks like something you would need to apply after every wash. If you like low sheen then I highly recommend Z16. Makes the tires look very natural and not so glossy. Redcarguy posted a picture of his tires with Z16 and you might want to take a look at it CLICK HERE . I got kind of excited and used Z16 on my interior dashboard, and it's a little too glossy to my taste. For interior, I would say use Z-10 for low gloss & Z-16 for high gloss.

Yesh I think just wash with Z7 and go over it with Z6. Have a claybar handy if there's any contaminants you want to remove, then just go ahead to layer away.

Took a look at the post and your answer. The Z looks good, I don't want my tires to shine more than my paint. Another Zaino sale. I don't mind applying it after each wash, it just finishes off the process and I know I'm done. Have you tried eagle 1 tire applicators. I find they do a good job of spreading around especially where the tire meets the road. I laugh at some people's cars when you see that dry spot, you know where they missed. I used to back up the car a foot or so to make sure I have full coverage.

It's a 2011 black Camaro and never been detailed. Not sure of the hardness of the paint yet. I plan to wash, clay and then use Blackfire Enhancing polish on a black pad (don't think white will be necessary) and BFWD on a blue pad. It's not my car so I want to be very careful. Does this process sound ok?

It sounds very gentle, and if the car hasn't been ravaged by the dealership then it should look good when you're done! Be sure to post pictures!

Agreed. Ultimately it comes down to inspecting the surface for both contamination (clay if needed) and swirl/scratch defects. IF the the paint is in good shape then this is a beautiful plan. IF the paint has moderate swirl marks then you will likely need a more aggressive combination then Gloss Enhancing Polish. I would try using Menzerna P203 (Super Finish) on an Orange Power Pad then finishing down with the Gloss Enhancing Polish.

Thanks Everyone. Todd- I have the Menz Super Finish if I need it. I don't have an orange "Power Pad". Can I use the LC CCS orange pad or the LC flat orange pad if orange is needed?
