lol Someone needs a new key board. Your caps lock is stuck and I guess the period button is missing too. lol Its like the anti-FLONI. ;) j/k man I agree with that about the new Bimmers. Way nice.

I have to chime in here because I am a die-hard mbz fan. Between me and my parents, we have 4 mercedes. I love them all. In fact, right now my ml is at my parents house and I am driving my mothers S500 designo, a fine car imo.

I always disliked BMW's because I found them to be bare and spartan in comparison to the MBZ's i was used to. I took in my ML to be serviced and as a loaner, i got a new 325i sport. After a weekend with it I understand the "allure" of BMW. I first got in it and thought "eww this steering is ridiculously tight", but after a little fun, I hated to take it back. It was great fun to drive, got great gas mileage, and was comfortable with plenty of room. Not that I would trade my ML for it, but it certainly put it into perspective.

I think to sit and argue which one is better is a waste of time. I think they are both some of the finest vehicles on the road. They each have their plusses and their minuses and have earned the reputation they both have.

Sincerly,

MBZ 4 life

Thers just something about MBZ that keeps me loyal!

One thing I will give MB is that they have exceptional leather. I have a friend that had the leather in his Integra done by Mercedes and it is amazing. It makes me want to have mine done by them as well but I think I'll save my $$$$. :D

WOW BJ, that is one hell of a car. I totally agree with you. BMW and MBENZ are both exceptional cars. BMWs are very athletic and sporty but that leather in the mbenz just keeps me coming back! If you recall I did come very close to getting a 325i.....

BMW and MBENZ :xyxthumbs :bow

bmw is self admitedly a "drivers car"... performance minded/handling/power are first on their list... with luxery coming in second, not that far behind...

mbz is self admitedly a "luxery car"... luxery/comfort first, with the performance things later on the list...

i always say this... if i had to drive a car around i'd want a BMW... if i were getting driven around (like by a chauffer) i'd want a Mercedes...

granted MBZ does make an attempt to put out some "sporty" cars... granted it's an effort to keep up with bmw... ;)

speaking of which some family friends are having a wedding in a few weeks and want me to drive them around in their 98 500SL for the day :D

as the buick guy said i'd be damn happy with either a bmw or a benz... but i'd prefer bmw.

May I sum it up?

Mercedes VS BMW is like comparing coke to pepsi.....it narrows down to personal taste, because BOTH cars are VERY similar and both are good and capable, road and track´s test of the M5 and E55 had a 0.2 points difference overall......typically, BMW drivers will go by the driver´s slogan, while mercs go by the luxury thing.......

We have both a C240 and a 328 at home, both are very capable, but we must admit that mercedes´styling department is doing really well, NO ONE can say any new merc is ugly, while on the other hand I´ve seen a BMWs fan page where they were collecting signatures to kill BMWs designer, due to the new 7series!

some funny stuff!

I just drove a 745i and I was amazed at how responsive it is. The iDrive takes a little getting used to along with the starting procedure.

Meh, just buy whatever model is the best for you. I'd take a M5 over the E55, or a 330i over a C320. So I'm not a total MB loyalist. Whatever pleases ya....

But let's get this straight. SL55 AMG over the Z8 any day of the year. 500 hp, yum! This is assuming I could afford it. :sosad I used to get into these debates, but I don't care anymore. Purchase the car you like, just don't tell others why their purchase was wrong. Ever seen the German roadster drive? Boxsters, TTs, SLKs, Z3s, etc...all getting together for some fun.

Ok, I said I hated debating the issue...but you spurred me on. What did they do to the new 330i and 325i?!? The steering is terrible (relative term)! It used to be 100% perfect on the 323 and 328 models. What I heard they did was add some power steering boost to assist weaklings parking in the garage. It totally screwed it up but I hear they are trying to fix it, if they have not already. The early 330i model I drove was just not what I expected from BMW in the steering department.
