Neighbor-phobia

So I'm cleaning some windows and re-filling the air in the tires with a portable compresser for my boss in the parking garage and this lady who comes out to smoke walks up to us to ask if we are stealing the car? Yeah, you cancer filled bag of bones, I'm stealing the car with a microfiber towel and Invisible Glass in either hand. Some people really need to observe and be sure before they talk or shut their pie hole and keep their snide remarks to themselves. And to the original poster, you should have no shame on how many times you want to go clean/detail/mess with your car. It's not like you are touching theirs.

Well, in keeping with the quick come-backs noted in this thread, you should have just told her yes, but that you wanted to make sure the windows were clean enough to see out of for your quick getaway...

This is why Autopians would make horrible car thieves..we've have to detail the car before hotwiring it..can't be seen with swirl marks and bug guts in public!

or for our close-up on the local news! :chuckle:

"The suspect drove and parked the vehicle in his driveway, after which police apprehended the suspect.

'Why did you go to your house?'

'Uhh... because I need to get my PC... this car is in terrible shape! Just look at it! duh!'"

back from the dead.. i think in a way when washing your car all the time, it kinda rubs off on the neighbors to do theirs. i've noticed a few more neighbors around me washing their cars more often the past few months...

This is definitely possible. Or at least I HOPE it is.

If people think paying so much attention to a car is weird, F'em, it's better than having a bad habit or watching TV. Come on what's the point in life if you can't have a hobby.

The problem with the neighbor in the original post is...they just don't care. They don't care about their own car or anything else in their pathetic life. Their comment is a reflection of the hate they have for themselves.

I get the you're going to polish the paint off comments. It's kind of funny walking out in to the driveway, or garage and seeing the same people, same time every day while I'm detailing, or just messing with the cars, and motorcycles.

Most if not all the people in my neighborhood see me and just wave and smile.

I hope someone ask me don't you have anything better to do. I would say well you know I'm 36, and retired. So, no I really don't have anything better to do. Except maybe sleep, go to the casino, or go shopping.

:LOLOL

I'm not going to be nasty, but I'm not going to take any crap off of them either.

If anyone's uneasy about people asking questions, just tell them your doing R&D for a company.

great thread... i used to get some pretty nasty comments when i used to ONR my car in underground parking!!! my parking spot was right beside the exit door :/

There's a guy on our culdesac who pulls up to my driveway and yells, "You missed a spot!" He's done it at least a dozen times; apparently, it's still a clever line on his planet. He's an old man who can hardly walk, and that's the only thing preventing me from engaging him in a frank exchange of ideas.

On a positive note, two other neighbours washed their cars this year.

great thread!!!

I get the usual, "Is my car next" or "when are you going to detail my car"..

Now since I started my own business, my neighbors have noticed that Im getting a good amount of work, and hopefully will want their cars looking nice..

i dont care what they think, I like my car looking nice

FJF That old guy said the same thing my dad used to say everytime he passed one of our neighbors till I asked him why does he even say anything except Hi. My dad' respsonse was "He must be a good kid because he has something he cares about constructively does a beautifull job and he probably knows I'm just kidding." The next week my dad approached him to let him know he meant no offense by saying "you missd a spot" and the neighbor said it was better than what most people say.

It was jsut my dad's weird sense of humor saying HI. Maybe the old man knows you are an honest hard working constructive person and is using this as a way of saying beautiful job.

Thanks for making me remmember a quirk of my dad's too.

*rant* so i'm filling up at the local gas station and some clown (they had a little booth) comes over and starts rubbing his fingers/hands all over my side mirrors and headlights and said this product (fastwax.com) would work well to do this and that. i was holding in my anger and the only reason i didn't go off on the guy is because i frequent the gas station (it's right behind my house) and know the clerks that work there are, they are friendly and didn't want to make a scene. this guy proceeds to act like he knows everything and then says that this product was etc, etc, etc... why can't people respect others property?!

i don't detail for a living and only take care of my 4 family rides. My neighbor and good friend across the street swapped my pick-up for his S500. I had it for 2 weeks and of course had to clean it up MY way. He was amazed at how it looked. I heard some of the other neighbors mention to him how nice it looked and a couple of them asked me if I wanted to swap cars. I have noticed that some people on the block are washing their cars more often.

is it just me or does it seem like every time you are washing your car the same neighbor(s) are always driving by (i was using the leaf blower twice and the same neighbor drove by slowly twice :o )? i've might of mentioned it already, but it seems to be more coincidental lately LOL...

I wouldve told the twit to keep the peanut gallery comments to himself.

I KNOW my neigbors think Im strange always detailing cars out front... I could care less what they think.

Ah, so you do care about what they think?

Personally, I couldn't care less about what they think.

On a scale of 0-100, with 100 meaning "I really do care what they think" and 0 meaning "I rally don't give a hoot about what they think", I am a 0. I really couldn't care less about what they think.

(Just correcting the misuse of this phrase in an annoying manner, one person at a time :hifive:.)

To be fair, he probably did care in 2007 when he wrote this, but might now now.

Are you in a time warp?
