Neighbor-phobia

Most of my neighbors are clients of mine, so i don't get that problem...

I find that most of those who say "You're gonna wash the paint right off of that car" are drving filthy rotten dirty s**tboxes.

When you get the line "can I bring mine over next".. tell them sure.. give them your rate.. they tend to stop bothering you.

I haven't had one neighbor that hasn't said the same things you guys are posting....eventually they stop and starting asking questions and within time they are customers...I think that its out of guilt that my cars look so great and there don't

i think someone else posted this... but if they ask, "when are you going to do mine next" or something similiar to that effect, you can comment... "sure, i can use the extra money". i'm sure then (unless they want you to do their car), they won't be making comments like that anymore... :lol

Yeah, with a family and another child on the way, I don't have the kind of spare time to devote to the cars to be able to do everything I'd like to in one go. So, I find myself in the garage after 9 p.m. with the worklights fairly often.

While I do ocassionally think about what the neighbors must be thinking, I don't let it bother me. I figure I'm not bothering anyone with noise and I always keep the lights angled away from the other houses.

IMHO, everyone should have a hobby they are passionate about. It provides a good release from day to day life and allows us to re-center ourselves.

I love these threads! I also feel very weird since I am usually washing a car every other day. Some of my neighbors are really cool, but some of them are good Ol hicks(I live in Ky). I find myself moving cars around in the driveway so that they cannot see me while Im washing another car.

All the members of Autopia need to move into one big subdivision. That way no one will make fun of anything we do to our cars! Then we will all argue that the other person isnt doing it right. Or someone dropped the clay on the ground and still used it!!!! OHH NOOOOOO!!!

I think people who let their cars stay dirty are weird........so we're even?

Also...... If some people would clean their own pools, mow their own yards, and clean their own cars...they may just find that there is no need to go to a Gym and pay someone to make them move around.

RET :grinno:

Kind of like when you mow your yard, the neighbors will mow their's shortly thereafter becuse their lawn now looks long and unkept haha

I love the nice one's that compliment you all the time. Every time I wash my car, the same lady walks by with her dog and always says "She's beautiful!". She motivates me to keep my car clean. :)

I've actually noticed that a few neighbors have been keeping their cars cleaner since I've started detailing.

I was just outside washing my boss' car and that same guy came out and said "again???".

So I said "Yea, I'm getting $200 dollars to wash this car. Again..."

No comment from him :chuckle:

dont worry about it, i know people think im wierd but who cares ?

wait till you are out there with a torch looking for swirls and taking strange pics of the paint for message boards lol

LOL! I can SO imagine myself doing the torch thing, haha.:har:

are you sleeping with this person? is this person paying your bills? if not, then you shouldn't care about anything this person or anyone else has to say that comes off in a negative way.

ha ha. this thread is a blast. i didn't realize there was already a similar one on this site. sorry about that.

gotta try out the new lines I learned next time.

I live in a Condo as well and my neighbors usually make sarcastic remarks about how I will wash my paint off, etc. etc.

One of my neighbors (HOT!!!!) just started handwashing her car on a regular basis because she saw me doing it. :wow:

Yea. It's kinda weird suddenly hearing an unfamiliar noise in my neighborhood, then looking down the street to see the neighbor who just drove by actually vacuuming the inside of their car!

But I know what you're saying... I really do think people probably think I'm crazy, but I try to give a friendly "hi" or "how you doing" to people who jog or walk past. Most of them return the smile, but some of them don't even look over! boo.

Hehe, I'm sure people just rolled their eyes when I pulled my floormats out onto the driveway and was washing them

THANK GOD I live out in the country! Yeah, I'm an ol redneck country boy in North Carolina - living on land that has been in the family for generations. When my wife and I hear stuff from friends that live in the burbs - we smile and give thanks. Hell, I can't even see my nearest neighbor!

At my last house, one neighbor who was a total ***, said "Is that all you ever do?" Funny though, the paint was literally peeling off the hood of his piece of s%%t.

Then when I was ready to sell one of cars, my other neighbor (good friends with the ***) were falling all over themselves to buy it, since they knew it was so well cared for.

You just have to accept that some people absolutely do not care about their cars.

I love it when I'm at the car wash bay at our underground car park using the PC to buff. Everyone who walks by just stares at me wondering if I am sanding off the paint. The other week, I was moving my 4 spare wheels up stairs to store, and some folks asked me which car did I steal them from. LOL.

I'm lucky compared with all the stories I'm reading here. Most neighbors tell me that my cars are always looking good and when they drive by, it's the usual "I'm next" comment. But then again, their cars are always looking spotless as well!

I cannot complain!

yeah, i know what you guys mean lol! my neighbor use to have a black camry that was not maintained very well. they just bought a brand new silver camry, which coinicidently is the same color of my car. i think i rubbed off on them, after seeing me washing/maintaining my car all the time, she had a mobile detailer wash both of her cars today... :o
