Thanks Shawn I`ll have to look into that as well. If you`ve got pictures you could send me of that work I`d like to check it out

Austin, I recall doing my 98 Grand Marquus which looked like old white gutter paint. Many others too but I`de be guessing.

Austin,
Did you say what Size pads and Backing plate you are using ??

If you are not using the 5" Backing Plate with the little larger size pads, then it is going to be harder and take much longer...
In paint correction, it still takes Pad Rotation to get the best out of the product working out on the paintwork..

Smaller Diameter pads like the 5/1/4" or so will rotate faster than the larger 6" ones.. This size combination has always worked much better with random orbitals in my experiences.. The machine will also be easier to handle with the smaller diameter pads..

You would want to run that Porter Cable at full speed and press down on it but not stop it from rotating; you want to find the best balance between downward pressure and the most pad rotation...

Certainly as has already been said numerous times above, the different machines starting with the Griot`s machines have more power and more rotation potential for starters..

I bought a new Lexus IS350 from Lexus of Bellevue, WA., a few years ago.. Very nice car but too twitchy at 80mph on up..

I bet yours when new, went a zillion times through their free car wash for Lexus cars at the dealership; that might explain all the car wash scratches, etc..

Thank you Dan, I`m using a 5" backing plate with 5 1/2" Hex-logic pads. When I get the new lake country pads I`ll try that technique.

Hmm with that said it might be more of a pad issue than a product issue. I`ll order some new pads and give V32 another shot. If that doesn`t yield the result I`m looking for I`ll try 3D cut and finish with 3D polish

Give it another shot before you go out and buy more product. It`s hard coming back (has anybody done it?) to NOT spending money on products just because of the addiction. Go down that rabbit hole, you may not come back. Don`t believe me? Check out this thread!

Meguiars Ultimate Compound and Ultimate Polish.
I`ve read Meguiars uses that combo in their training it works so well. The price is decent too...

It`s what I started with. Good combo for sure. At one of their training sessions, I don`t recall if we used that, BUT we did use the D300 and MF Discs.

Thanks Shawn I`ll have to look into that as well. If you`ve got pictures you could send me of that work I`d like to check it out

Pics are good, but here`s a video showing Ultimate Compound being used. Another video shows Ultimate Polish on the same veh.

V line sucks compared to whats available in the market now. v38 was the only one close to usable for me. everything else works but just ended up being very dusty for my liking.

I use HD Polish+ and 3d AAT 501 compound now.

Orange Hex Logic pad seems to be comparable to Buff and Shine flat pad and better pricing. You can get a whole 6 pack of buff and shine (you choose pads) for $35 bucks.

The PC is a great starting machine but the Rupes will save you time and your hands in the long run if you plan on doing a lot of compounding/polishing.

I used the V32 recently, with a Megs MF Cut Disc. Dusting was not an issue. I plan on "testing" out a few more compound/polish compounds tomorrow and will make a thread. By no means will it be a thorough, in-depth review. Just some minor testing and comparing of a handful of combos.

Not sure what the case is these days, but B&S allegedly made the Hex Logic pads at some point.

Have you thought about how you`re cleaning the pads ??
The cleaner the pad, less chance of adding swirls and product mingling (proper term. dunno)

PoorBoy`s SSR kit would give you cut - to finishing in good size samples. to help you decide what you like.

You mentioned HD cut/polish, have it great stuff to learn on, easy to work.
You mentioned 3D cut /polish that`s the same company but a different product and higher learning curve level. IMO Pro level.
Hoping this helps.
Stay Lurkin` & learnin` :chairdance
