Need some professional Input.

I finished painting my hood and spoiler about 2 months ago, and now I'm ready to wetsand and buff them as there is a good bit of orangepeel in the paint...

It has 3 coats of clear, that way we could safely remove an entire coat during the sanding process and still be safe.

Its rather contoured in a few areas, and just wondering what tips you guys might have...

I'm going to be finishing down with 3000 grit. But what should I do around the contours to ensure a straight true finish?

Also, I'll be finishing it with UC and a PorterCable with an Orange LC Pad, then moving on to a White LC Pad with SwirlX, then probably some good glaze with the Blue LC Pad, then throwing some Tech 2.0 on there with a blue pad as well...

Does this sound like an alright plan of action?

Also, I'm about to post a few pics as well...

Thanks

Yeah, the pics would help. That way we could give more detailed and better suggestions. Thanks and as Ali G would say . . . Respekt!

Oh! Your pics came up after I pressed "submit" on my last post. Anyway, to the hood . . . I'd use my Mirka on the main "flatter" areas. I used a combination of my hand and sponge around the hood scoop. Make sure not to overdo it by goin in just one directions. I tend to get deep gouges when i do that. I hope this helps.

I imagine I'll be doing alot by hand...

By the way, the car has been sitting uncovered for about 2 months outside, and the neighbor loves to mow... so its covered in junk...

It'll be getting a full detail at the time of this job.

I'll try to document it.

Here again is another job to be done after sanding with a professional polisher @ say 1800 rpms. I usually polish these jobs @ 2500 rpms with a wool pad for more BITE! Turn it to GLASS then finish with ablack finish pad. I would use Menzerna PO1066f A SUPERIOR PRODUCT! NOT FROM AMERICA I have to say. You run those RPMS over the curves with ELOQUENCE watching the shine turn to GLASS! You can DO THIS !!!

This Camaro looks very flat already. I would forgo sanding for aheavey compound instead. You should always cover your car if it is kept outside. A BREATHABLE layer cover is best! That will solve the lawn problem!

The hood and spoiler have orange peel, not extreme but it is all over and is very noticable, the rest of the car is slick.

I don't have a rotary, but I do have access to one. I'd rather give it a shot with my porter cable though. I have Menzerna SIP that I could use.

I've had a garage for the past couple years, and before that it stayed in covered parking with a cover.

Now I've moved closer to the college and lost my garage, and its back to outside...really sucks.

The Garage with A/C was awesome.

Dear Camaro owner the problem is that the porter cable only oscillates, RIGHT? You cant change the surface and make it smooth unless there is friction. No friction no glass shine. You cant use compound unless there is friction. SOOOO...you need the angle polisher with the 7 inch pad take your choice compound sponge pad or wool pad used by the most talented of detailers. You can do this if you polish @ 1500 rpms ...just take your time. If you lived closer I would help you get started. Go to you tube and search machine polishing. Dont use alot of product it will just GUNK up your pad. Let me know how you do! Ben
