It could be a combination of things....... cheap/bad MF's, MF's not clean, rubbing too hard, etc.

I would always try the CD test before using a MF on my paint, or at least just do a very small spot and make sure you aren't causing marring. It would also help if we knew the brand and history (how they were washed, etc) of your MF's.

Are you sure the marring was all gone to begin with?

FWIW, I second this opinion. Are you sure the finish was corrected and than re-damaged by the MF? My guess is this was pre-existing and maybe was made more noticable by the clean-up.

That seems like a lot of swirling just from a MF towel. I use the Costco towels and have no problems. Clean up a small area and use the MF towel in question in a straight back and forth motion and see if you get straight marring lines.

Yakky, do you have a black car? In my case the marring is to slight that it wouldn't so up on another color, but I have sworn off anything but wet cleaning- that includes QD. ONR is my new friend and wax as I dry.

I've had cotton applicators leave a swirled finish from uneven sealant application. It looked like micromarring but it wasn't.

wannafbody, how did you fix that? How did you know it wasn't really marring? When I QD it, it does go away, but seem to introduce more maring.

the marring wasnt there..It looked perfect after polishing!! it has to be my micro-fiber i bought at walmart..But they are getting old..I need new ones. can anyone recommend a good micro-fiber?

I see slight trails and the swirls too closely set to eachother. If you look closely it looks like marks from a rotory. What did u polish it with?

I have seen MF do that--cheap MF like you have. How was it washed? Stored? Tag still on? Has it ever been used for anything else besides paint? Ever dropped it? When you hold the MF, do you hold/fold it in such a manner that the edges do not come in contact with the paint? What kind of paint(manufacturer)? All of these come into play.....

I would look into some pakshaks and treat them as hospital "sterile" equipment.

+1 to all those that said pakshak. You get great deals on their MF when you buy in bulk. Remember to WASH your MF before you use them when they are brand new.

I applied another layer with a foam applicatori and it went away.

as a matter of fact, that is not factory paint. it was painted after the fact. its real senstive to the touch. why would any of that make a difference?
