My new garage with attached house

Nice job, but it looks like your house is happy to see ya! LOL That space is amazing, cann't wait to see the finnished product.

with all the pictures that you have provided us I feel like we should have an

Autopia grand opening for you. It is nice to see the dramatic changes that are happening in this process. keep the pictures coming!!

Its to bad everyone is so spread out across the country or I would have a grand opening party when its done, LOL! Since Im in post pictures to death mode, heres one last on in the framing stages, keep in mind there is like 6' of the garage that doesnt show up in the pic. It is fully framed, roofed and they even (finally) cleaned it out too! Now I have to really start thinking about how to lay it out, what to do for lighting, storage, floor all while keeping budget in mind. :hairpull :xyxthumbs

Chuck,

It's really looking to be a beautiful house and garage. I really like the character of the roofline of both house and garage. Nice work and it looks to be a huge space for detailing.

Keep those pics coming! :)

Thought it was time for an update. The house is being bricked this week, its shingled and the mechanicals have been started. Heres a few recent garage pics:

View out the 1/2 bath, this is the short side of the garage

inside garage, some of the electrical runs are done, still about 6 to go

That last pic gives a good view of how you incorporated the garage into the house proper with regard to the curb-view. Good design job, it doesn't overwhelm the rest of the structure :xyxthumbs

Awfullly nice weather for Michigan in January. Am glad that it is that way for you to get the work done easier. It really does look like a nice designed house! I have to say that this is one of my favorite threads of all the threads that I have viewed in the last couple years. I appreciate that you have shared the experience. :thx

I have to say though, that when pointing out the short side of your garage it makes me think of how small mine actually is. :bawling: :rofl :)

OK, fixed the last 2 links in my post. Thanks again for all the compliments. Ill say it helps because theres alot going on behind this that is very stressfull and we still havent sold our current house. But enouigh of that.

On the design, I wanted it to tie into the house and not look "tacky". i think the overall design works very well and blends in so you dont really realize how big the garage is. The funny thing is you dont see our next door neighbors house from down the street anymore< LOL!!!!

We have had very good weather overall this winter. A few days of rain and alot of snow in early December, but thats about it. Temps are steady in the 20's - 30-ish so its rather pleasant (for winter). So up next is the electircal wiring in the garage, insulation (I think they are also blowing R34 in the garage ceiling too!), then drwall and after that Im on my own, once we close.

Looks Great! how bouts directions to your house for the rest of us in cold michigan without garages :D no worries you can jsut keep an extra key under the mat for us :D

Looks great. Do you know what the roof pitch is for the garage ? I'm preparing to build a detached I haven't decided on roof pitch yet.

thanks

Is the garage also the column structure, or is that your house.

If that is just your garage OMG you got some setup there!!

LOL! The garage is the portion sticking out with the 8x16' door opening. The rest is our new house, the house is 2650' and my attached garage is about 1100' (basically its 43x22 and basically what is a 1 car stall or shop/storage area in the rear thats 10x17).

I went in yesterday and they have doen the electrical in the garage. Like Accumulator and others said, get more outlets than you think you need 'cuz theres never enough. Well I listened to my non-autopian / car guy wife and Im already wishing I would have got more outlets, at lest 4-5 more. THe builder wont put any more in at this point. Sigh...... Oh well It'll still be very useable.

No matter what you do, there's always something you'd do differently. And I sure know what you mean about the electrical contractors not being willing to do certain things after a given point ("why *can't* you add more lights if I'm willing to pay for it?") :o

You can turn the single gang oulets into doubles without too much work later. Your garage is coming along great. Cann't wait to see more pics .

Kinda lost me there? All the outlests they are putting are 2 "plugs" in each electrical box. But theres only 5 "drops" on the walls.
