My new garage with attached house

Chuck,

Your plans look great. Thanks for the kind words about my garage. It's the best investment that I've ever made.

The 10.5' ceilings are a great idea. You'll have plenty of room for a lift.

I'm getting ready to add a 2nd lift to my 4-car garage section. It's starting to get a little crowded.

Let me know if you have any questions about the construction process. There are plenty of small details to consider.

Yes, they are all mine. My Subaru STi daily driver isn't in the picture and my wife has a Honda Odyssey minivan. An no, I don't have enough time to drive them...but enough time to luv them all.

Sorry, I'll try not to hijack this thread. Please refer to my garage experience:

You're making all of us jealous!

Ya I am jealous. I am hating! I say this in the kindess sense of the word. I had a garage once. Then I got married. Now I have a storage area for all my wife's things and a storage shelf for me.

Please keep us posted on your build. That way I can live vicariuosly thru your adventure.

Good Luck!!

Update 11/17/05: They poured the concrete for the driveway and garage Monday the 14th and they cut it yesterday. We are scheduled to start framing the 21st but given the way the weather has been this week it looks like this might be a long process this winter.

Im not sure what you mean? The only concrete left is the front porch and front walk and basement floor, all of which dont get completed until the house is almost finsihed as far as I know. They still have to run drain lines and the roughed in plumbing for a bathroom in the basement yet.

Thanks for the update!!

I sure like to see the progress. Hope the weather holds out for you. Will ask for some help from upstairs tonite. Just for your garage build.

Keep us posted. :2thumbs:

Chuck, until you start construction I think you could land small aircraft on all that concrete! That's going to make a great garage! :up

Looking good so far! Who is the builder on that job? We are getting ready to move and our house just went on the market. We are looking in the Brownstown area.

Thanks for the update!!

Keeping us informed is important. I enjoy seeing and reading about your progress!!

Looks great Chuck! We are starting a "Mother In Law" addition to our house this month which includes a partial basement. I will finally get a chance to remove all the crapola that is cluttering up my garage and set it up like I have wanted to for 3 years now.

KGB, I read your reply to my post about my garage w/house. The builder is Winnick Homes and the subdivision is called Mission Pointe. You can check out the other communities they are building at www.winnickhomes.com. We have been very pleased so far with the builder. I see you are looking around Brownstown, I see they have a new community in Southgate which I dont think is to far from Brownstown. The build quality seems alot better than many builders we have seen.

Thanks for the kind words guys. Hopefully Ill have a fully framed garage to post by the end of this weekend or early next week. After that its just boring house stuff for a while so there may be a lag in updates.

Thanks! Southgate is about 1 minutes from me. I am in Wyandotte now.

I will take a look at them.

p.s. I cleared my pm box. ;)

Very cool. Looks like a quality space. I have been doing some minor work on my garage and it has been fun. I'm looking at concrete staining the floor.

well here is the progress as of 12/5/05, not alot on the garage, but there has been progress on house portion. WHo cares about the house, build that garge guys! LOL! It has been pretty cold teens - 30's and we have had snow so progress is a bit slower than expected this week.I think these pics give a good feel for the size the garage will be, I just hope it doesnt feel like a tunnel.

SilverLexus, please post your expeience if you stain your concrete. I want to go that route but would have to DIY and it seems like ALOT of work, more than expoxy, etc.

Sure looks like a nice space going up. If the garage is built first then you can have a place for the cars. Can always rent an apartment

So I hope the snow does not hold up the progress. Keep posting the progress!!! :bigups

OK, a few more from yesterday :woohoo: . Today the garage walls should be fully framed, Im not sure if theyll wait to frame the roof until the first floor is done or the first and second floors are done and do all the roofing at one time?
