My "Gun Ban" Rant....

Yeah, saw one was down in NC. Funny thing is, police that are constantly trained and "tested" are 1200 times more likely to shoot themselves accidentally than a regular schlep.

This was here in Raleigh at the State Fairgrounds. There was a reportedly long line to get back in the show since they had closed the show after the shooting.

I think if one side would not use the word "ban" so much and the other side would agree guns/ammo can be regulated we may find some common ground.

However, school security should be the responsibility of the local schools. You do not need the government to tell them that but sometimes you do.

It got swept under the rug, as if "hey, [stuff] happens! don't run from cops!"-type excuses made it all OK. The victim was....uhm....the kind of person who...uhm, well..let's just say that legal repercussions were/are unlikely. Gee, where are all the liberal legal sharks when stuff like *this* happens?!?

Well, granted on the "don't run from cops" thing, but one of the first lessons in handling a gun is "keep your %&*^#@$ finger off trigger until you're ready to fire," even when standing at the firing line stationary at the range. Let alone when you're running after someone. That should be common sense (yeah, yeah, I know.... that ain't so common these days).

But if people *were* responsible, we might not need the nanny-state, huh? Wonder just how popular that would really be

Life in general would be better if people were responsible about all kinds of things. Seems people spend more time worrying about what they shouldn't have to worry about or who they shouldn't have to help, or insisting "you can't tell me what to do" than they spend thinking about what they *should* be doing or listening to/caring about the concerns of others.

Yea, the guns were probably laying on the kitchen table, next to the Fruit Loops. Happens to me all the time. ;)

Heh heh :chuckle:

IMO it's a lesson about how anything used to transport firearms oughta be a "dedicated purpose" item. Gets back to taking serious stuff seriously.

Biased reporting? Maybe, but it doesn't make dopes like Mom any less qualified for a future Darwin Award. :)

Right, but I'm just a real hater of biased reporting (on any side of any issue) so I couldn't resist being all :nono

Sigh...the problem with serious stuff is that the Darwinism can end up being...uhm, literal except that the dummy is seldom the (only) one that doesn't survive.

Always astounds me when people don't follow that  I read somewhere that out of the various "cardinal rules" of gun handling, you can break *one* rule and probably get away with it, but more than one....all bets are off.

Somebody will probably say "heat of the moment!" or somesuch, but IMO that just means he wasn't properly trained. Note that the dept. in question has had its share of, uhm...scary LEO behavior come to light recently :nervous:

Well, that's easier than being responsible, huh? ;)

Biased reporting! That is all they know and it is probably about 95%+ a liberal bias and that is just the way it is and will be as long as there is a "press".

Thomas Sowell is one of the smartest guys I know. I've read his colums for years and he makes sense, if you get the chance, read all the articles you can by this man, he will open a lot of eyes! I never understood economics and how all that finance stuff worked UNTILL I started following his articles. They are written in plain, easy to follow language, filled with facts and he shares examples you can relate to. Thanks "fossil", you made my day!
