My first click and brag, 2002 WRX, mostly Blackfire, beads, reflections, 56K dies!!

Awesome results.

You say that you put 2-4 coats of BF, but then the following week you applied the polish again before adding more layers. That would be undoing all the work you did on the previous week.

BF (CMA) states that the polish will not remove their top coat. I read the FAQ they send with the kit a couple of times just to make sure. If I had the brocure here I would type out exactly what they say, but I am at the office and it is in my garage.

I know that BF AFPP will not bond with a carnuba, so you can top it with a carnuba, but you would have to go back and polish it if you wanted to go back to AFPP. But it explicitly states that the polish can be put over AFPP before more layers of AFPP are applied.

Not sure if that really makes sense, but I will trust them at their word, CMA does not seem like they are out to scam people.

Nice work! I too have a WRB WRX, it hid swirls well enough for a while but after 2 years mine definitely need them dealt with.

You said 3M SMR was not fun to do by hand? Any suggestions or alternatives for someone else without a PC? I picked up some ScratchX but haven't used it yet, it's been suggested I might be happier with 1Z PP by hand.

I would like to hear some suggestions as well, the 3M did a good job, but I always am up for trying new stuff.

I despise 3M's SMR. It is a complete PITA to remove. A month or so ago I used an entire bottle on a travel trailer. I was exhausted.

It's a little more aggressive at first, but you might give megs #80 a shot. Like 3M's SMR, you have to work it a long time.

FWIW, I tried out some 3M SMR on my friends '96 Civic. His car has never been cleaned/waxed or anything. His hood had more spider webs than my attic.

First I did a test spot to see how it would work. After a LOT of elbow grease and muscle, it looked like a mirror. I gotta say though, I was worn out. And that was just about 1 square foot.

We did the rest of his hood (with a little less effort) and it looks great, but not as good as where we really worked it in.

We put a coat of Mothers cleaner wax on it and it looks like his hood was repainted.

My conclusion is that SMR works well enough, but you really have to work that stuff hard. REALLY HARD.

I'm sure there is a easier product to use.

Wow!! That thing is glowing:bounce

Great color and great car:xyxthumbs

Hey do you have any pics of the Gli I had one about 15 years ago it was an '85 I think all great memories of that little car. I recall it had some great Recaros in it and the 16v DOHC engine was fun:D (specially at 16years of age)

I got some pics of the GLi, but not great ones. I will detail it this summer and post a separate thread. It is actually not being driven at the moment.

Thanks for all the positive comments guys, really makes the job feel likes its worth it!
