i noticed that when i was last using my polishing pad that it felt like it was all of the sudden off balance.

Well i figured out what the problem was. My cutting pad the only one i have starting doing the same thing. i took it off that car and the bottom half flug across the garage!

Now i cant finish the car as the polishing pad is not cutting it i need the cutting pad.

anyone else have this problem? the glue on the inside is not stickey anymore. i called pac but got the message.

Sorry about your pads dude.

I think PAC is closed on Saturdays & Sundays. Did you try contacting The Edge?

www.edgepads.com

They stand behind the pads they produce and I'm sure they would like to hear from you.

Well, if the pad separated cleanly from the velcro backer, you could try re-attatching them. Once you clean off the debris from it flying across the floor, you could try re-attatching the pad with either a "Krazy Glue ® " type product or I think someone said Shoo Goo ® also works. This may let you finish the job over the weekend, but you should still contact the vendor/manufacturer about it. (I'm not sure if the use of aftermarket glue will void any warranty the manufacturer has....please consider this my disclaimer! :) )

Also, you shouldn't take a pad off a car with the machine still running. Even if the pad isn't separating, the centifugal force could cause the pad and plate to separate, thus sending the pad flying again!

Which Edge pad do you have? They make many different types of pads. There was an older version of their velcro DA pad that sometimes suffered from a velcro separation issue. It wasn't a problem with the glue, but rather with the foam itself. Edge completely redesigned the pads, and people here on DC have reported good results with the new versions. I had this problem with a couple of my original Edge DA pads, but Aaron at Dedication to Detail replaced them with the new versions at no cost.

its the new 2000 da the quick dc ones. it was wobbling so bad on the car that i almost droped the pc thats why i took it off.

The top part was swining frelly above the bottom pad causing the bad wobbling.

i just got to get the bumbers and the driver side.

ill try the polishing pad witch seems to be fine now with a little more ssr2.5 to make up for the cutting power.

Well there went the last polishing pad >< this time i did not take it off the paint and the BOTTOM part flew off all by its slef. good thing i have fast reactions caus that plastic thing in the middle would of F ed up the paint.

Damn! Now the Edge2000 pads don't work? Your sure its the double width ones correct? I had the old version of the Edge DA pads and got em replaced for free, only 1 week and 3.85 to send by USPS. Send an email to Edge and a PM just to make sure and you will be good. Pads are annoying. I ain't happy that these pads won't hold, its like every brand struggles with this problem.

the bag says the 2000 edge preium buffing system. with NEW in the upper left corner

and this is from the invoice from PAC

1 E206 The Edge 2000 Quick-Connect Adaptor 0.00
1 E621 The Edge 2000 DA Yellow 17.95
2 E623 The Edge 2000 DA Blue 35.90
1 E624 The Edge 2000 DA White 17.95

This is bloody annoying i set this weekend a side for this reason only it was turning out good then BAM pads f up.

the cutting pad just seperated and the polish pad seperated then shreded a bit on the inside where the plastic holder thing is on one side.

I just want to get my new car really really shiney and pretty is that so much to ask.

I also called the only 2 shops that MIGHT have the megs or other pads and of corse there not picking up.

Im just venting here all that money for pads that suck. POORBOYS NEEDS TO MAKE THERE OWN PADS. caus everything else they make rocks so that pads would rock to.

Well i guess i get to look at my painter taped up car that is half swril free in the with the pretty interior thats spick and span till monday.

This better get resloved like new pads be sent to me overnight or a total refund or something like that.

ok end rant

i just tried my edge 2000 for the pc today i got it last night . i used the yellow pad on speed 6 with light compound and it was great . then i applied polymer sealer with white pad on speed 4 .. everything went great .. i like being able to use speed 6 now .. i bought 5 different pads and i hope that they work as promised . one thing about edge pads is AARON at edge pads backs his stuff %100. ive dealt with him on my rotary setup edge 2000 and hes great to deal with . just give him a chance and he will straighten it out ..

I understand your frustration but please just take a deep breath and relax. Be smooooooth.

Do me a favor. Send a PM to The Edge and to sauld2d and them give them an opportunity to work with you. They take alot of pride in thier pads and they are really cool to DC members.

I heard that they are even pretty smooth. :naughty

So you got a bad pad. Let them send you a new one.

that make me feal wores that yours work fine.

Could it be something i was doing? i was using speed 6 as that was taking the swrils out while going at a slow pace. i had it flat on the surface at all times. i had light pressure applied just a tad not enough to compress the pad just enough to keep it in contact. ughhhhhhh

Were the pads saturated with enough product that the solvents in the SSR's could have emulsified the adhesive that was holding the foam pad to the plastic plate?

Whoah! Did I post something that sounded THAT INTELLIGENT!?!?!?! :naughty

Be smooooooooth! :bigups

no it you where to really squeez the pads no resideu wont go onto my hand. also the inside of the pad where the glue was is dry

Ok i have narrowed it down. while working on the roof trunk and hood there where no prolbes at all they worked great.

The problem starts when i go to the doors. the pad seperates berofer i can finish half of what ever side i am working on. I just tried my last polish pad i had and it seperated when i was almost done with the drivers door.

The same thing happened to me 3 weeks ago after 3 uses on the PC.

They said the glue they are using can melt under the high heat getting transfered from the PC to the pad/plastic. They sent me some new pads with new prototype glue and they seem to be holding up better.

Just contact The Edge and they will send you new pads for free (I see no reason why not since that is what the did for me)

I doubt very much your going to get in touch with anyone on the weekend . First thing monday morning give Aaron or Saul a call 1 800-315-3343. Don't try gluing these pads back together. I'm sure the Edge guys will be interested in seeing how they seperated.
