My detail trailer got hit

Tex Star Detail

Formerly TexasTB
SOB.....lol
OK, it wasn't that bad, but man, it was almost a pile of scrap....

waiting to pull into the Post Office this morning. In my left lane stopped, with blinker on. Waiting for the traffic coming the other way to pass. (2 lanes one way 2 the other way, no turning lane) As soon as I had clearing to pull into the Post Office parking lot, I heard tires screeching. Look in my rearview, and see a car coming pretty fast at me with smoke blowing out from the front tires.....
Oh.....sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeit.
So a floor it, and bang........the guy clipped the corner of my trailer...
not alot of damage, just the fact this guy wasn't paying attention.
I pull in the parking lot, thinking the whole rear is smashed up, and the guy keeps driving...lol..
I throw my arms up at him, and he turns around.....
Guy is so apologetic, saying he does not have insurance......go figure. Driving a late 80's Crown Vic.....

Since I made the back half of my trailer wood, it just knocked a chunck of wood off, pushed it forward a bit, and warped my metal sign on the back.
I was already pushing the clock to get to my next appointment, so I told the guy to give me some cash and we will call it even.
Then he has the nerve to ask me what I do, well duh retard, you only seen the back of my trailer up close and personal.....lol

I am thankful that was all that happend. If I would sat there, I woulda been buying a new trailer right now......

here is a pic....not bad....but still

Accidents are just that accidents so be happy this guy didn't take your trailer out and then better yet have no insurance to cover you.

Looks like you can fix the OK

The worst part of this is uninsured drivers, they miff me off, since I pay threw the nose for mine...the best part is that he didn't take your trailer out and have no resources to pay you back for it.

And that is why we have to have uninsured motorist insurance down here with full coverage. Sorry to hear about your accident, but I'm glad you had your wits about you and were able to avoid serious damage.

He said his tires were bald and couldn't stop....lol
Yea, I would be out a week of work if he hit dead square........
I do have uninsured motorist coverage, a must here in this town.......

Chris, sorry to hear about your accident, but glad that you were able to minimize the damage done to your trailer!! :)

On the "Uninsured/Underinsured" Motorist Coverage, I've recently learned from my insurance company (Hartford), that it does not cover damage to your vehicle. It is only for "Medical Costs" you might incur as the result of an accident with an Uninsured/Underinsured driver - at least that's the way it is here in AZ - might be different in other states?

A peice of wood can be easily replace, you cant. Glad to see you are alright, sorry to hear about the trailer but hey at least its fixable

Well as everyone has said....It could have been worse. Just thinking about a weeks loss of work would have put me over the top.

Glad that you made a good snap decision. it is always best to drive defensively.

Glad to hear that you are alright, and that there was minimal damage to your rig.

People don't realize that even damaging a trailer could have an impact on a person supplying for their family, thats why if I'm late ....I'm late. It's not worth the life or livelyhood of another person just because I was in a rush or worse...not paying attention.

Maybe you need a new BIGGER sign if the guy who hit you couldn't figure out what you do for a living.

Not to be a nag, but according to your diagram YOU were the guilty party.

It's not OK to run into people but you would have gotten the ticket for attempting to cross the double yellow which is never permitted even to turn; probably obstruction for stopping or something creative.

Pet peeve of mine is that around here people can't drive an extra block to do it legally.

Glad it didn't mess you up too badly

Ahhhh be quiet.....it may not have been double yellow......bah humbug...
There is no turning lane. You ARE permitted to turn, because the police station is 2 buildings down......
I'll go and check the lines tomorrow....lol
It may be a solid line with a dotted on the right side, or it may be a dotted yellow, I just did it to show what it was looking like.

Good thing you're alright Chris, too many idiot drivers out there :X Did I read somewhere you are planning to have the trailer replaced (next year?)this is a sign? :smile

Exactly, if you are late, oh well. Not like the world will end....life still goes on.
I read somewhere about running late, and speeding. It gave details on time, speed, and how much you are actually gaining by speeding. It was interesting, and the gains were not as much as one would think.....

Disclaimer. The photo is not to scale. There is no cactus on the right side of the road. The road is actually gray in color, not black. No, all the cars on the road today were not yellow corvettes..........

TexasTB, Sorry to hear about the damage, it doesn't *look* too bad, but the guy lucked out in you not reporting his butt to the PD.

Norah, that sucks to hear! My uninsured motorist covered all the body work done on my 4Runner after it was rear ended earlier this year. That sucks that Hartford won't fix your vehicle damage!

IIRC, in my Driver's ED book, you CAN turn left over a double yellow, provided its into a driveway.
