My 2008 Infiniti M45 - Disappointment

As some of you may have picked up from posts I've made over the past few days, I was generally disappointed in the outome of my three-evening detail on my whip. I won't bother to put the details of what I did, but I did include pics so that people can pick apart my technique/results! Boo Hoo

...and because I'm not ashamed to admit I'm no pro...

Jim, Let us know your process so that we can try to help. :cornut:

It has a nice gloss to it!

Used a Griot's orbital (it was a gift...wanted the Flex DA - anyone know the difference between the Griot's orbital and a PC?)

Turtle Wax Platinum Polishing Compound on Yellow CCS pad (IP on the yellow didn't touch the swirls and spider-webbing I had/have, so I grabbed the strongest stuff I currently own)

IP on White CCS pad

FPII on Green CCS pad

NXT on Red CCS pad

As you may be able to tell, I like retail stuff so that I don't have to wait if I get the bug to mess with my car. Think I'll be switching to the KBM.

Jim any help you need, you can drop me a line at PAC. If you want to get a KBM Kit let me know also........

It does looks nice to me.......

Hey Jim... doesn't look dissappointing to me! All I see are a couple micro-swirls.. The car looks great!

Thanks guys. I couldn't get a good photo of the remaining swirling, but I promise it's there. Overall, it just has a very sterile look to it. I think I'm gonna order the BF Wet Diamond, as I think the NXT is giving the sterile sealant look that people mention. I really appreciate TID and getting advice from some of the best guys out there!

Dude, looks darn good to me.

Frankly, if you posted it on a site of lay people, they'd all be like "damn that looks amazing".

I know we have pros here who are detailing artists, but I'd bet if you just switched up and went to the M105/M205 combo, you'd probably knock the rest of those swirls out (which aren't even that bad).

I do understand your desire for perfection. Keep at it, you'll get there.

Your car looks great! Like User Name said, maybe the Turtle polish doesn't have enough "bite". I'm sure that with 105/205 you'd be able to knock that out quickly.

Looks good.

I assume this is the polisher you are using:
Link Removed, Sorry.

If so, its actually a little more powerful than the 7424xp and g110. Does 7000 OPM(orbits per minute) where the 7424 does 6800 and the G100 does 6700.

If you want something cheap to try, grab some Megs Ultimate Compound, its only 6 bucks at your local auto parts store. Give it a go with a orange pad if you have one and see what happens. For 6 bucks it might be worth a shot compared to the Turtle Wax compound.
