Mustang hit the 100K mile mark today

My 2001 Mustang just passed 100K miles today on the way to work. Was going to bring in a camera but I forgot in the shuffle this morning to get the kids out the door and off to school.

Anyway I just have to say that this car has been a faithful workhorse every day I have owned her. I have NEVER had a single mechanical failure and she has NEVER been to the shop for anything other than wearables. She does not burn a drop of oil between changes and on the yearly used oil analysis the engine looks to be wearing well...

I was planning on spending the weekend doing a thorough detail on her to mark this milestone but I am going to have to spend the weekend doing a brake job instead. I did the front brakes last year but the rear need to be done now. I will probably also replace the fuel filter and the spark plugs as I just noticed a slight dip in my fuel mileage.

I hope to do a thorough detail the weekend after this coming one before we head off to Florida for Christmas.

I will post some pictures when it is done...

In the meantime here is one of my favorite pics of the 'Stang when it was practically new.

In this photo she is wearing Meguiars #26 ;)

great car, way to take care of your stuff!! if i lived in a warmer climate i'd have a daily driver like that too. btw i like the looks of the new mustangs but that body style is by far my favorite. they nailed everything, great body lines and perfect factory wheel and tire combo!

Congrats! I remember when you posted that picture a couple years back!

You should be proud of the condition given how well you take care of it.

I just sold my 1996 Honda Civic today and will be using the cash as a down payment on a new car. The 2008 Mustang GT is in the mix of cars I am looking at. I like it with the option without the spoiler and hood scoop. But given Northeast winters I'm a little concerned about the rear wheel drive even though my father fairs pretty well in his rear wheel BMW 3 series.

I have a Mustang GT like yours, I haven't had any problems with it either. I'm really impressed with the reliability of the car. Much less problems than my Honda.

For spilchy, I don't drive my Mustang in the winter, but I have driven RWD cars in the snow and with a good set of winter tires you won't have any problems at all.

nice job and awesome stang

i just hit 51k with my 03 but, i cant say im as lucky as you - i burn 1qt between changes :wall:

Nothing like good maintenance and a little TLC . Congrats on the 100K . Looking forward for the next 100K.

Cheers , Jean Paul

The gear ratio in the Mustang in stock trim is pretty tame so I wouldn't worry too much about that. As long as you have a good set of tires they should be able to handle it. The traction control is pretty effective on my Mustang and gets tested every now and then ;)

I do plan on keeping it as long as I can keep it together and running :xyxthumbs

Congrats on the first 100k

My 87 Accord when I got rid of it had about 326,000 Don't remember exactly. Nothing wrong with Engine or anything. Just body was so rotted. Wasn't road legal anymore. Got to love CT Winters, Sand and Salt.

Congrats on the 100K mile mark!

I have a long way to go... I have a total of 6500 on my 2006 Mustang GT.

Very nice shape. My friend has the intentical car (year and everything). His looks like it has gone through a war with less miles. I have a 95 Z-28 that has 99,400 on it in storage right now that looks better than when I got it in 02. Nice to see theres still some great looking cars over 100k these days.

Congrats on the mileage my LSX is getting close to that now.

Man I need to get mine out of the garage more often I havent even broke the 20,000 mile mark yet. I have have broken many parts :) Drive shaft a couple gears lol what fun!

congrats. i remember hitting that mark not too long ago, i felt like my car wasn't gonna be worth crap anymore because everyone fears 6 digit cars, even though im sure both of ours are in better shape than most with half the milage. so i've ended up deciding on just keeping it forever because at the price i would have to sell it, i wouldn't be able to replace it with anything half decent comparably. shes about to touch 130k in a week or so.

Hey Bob, that's awesome! Congrats on the milestone, now go enjoy that beauty for another 100k!

What are your oil change intervals? What I mean is 1 qt in 3,000 miles is a lot different than 1 qt in 7,500 miles. Though neither would really be considered excessive.
